Re: Joebizz34's Customs, Re-Paints and Kitbashing

Hey guys, it's me again changing things up. :wave :lol

And again.....

I was given some really good reference photos of the mask that the Collector wore in the movie so of course I went back and re-tweaked my figure again.

Now the key things I noticed that I did wrong was the length of the mask. After seeing the new pics and going back to look at the movie again, I realized that there is no neck skin showing and the mask goes lower than his shirt. So I fixed that. I also gave the mask that "Flocked" look so it actually has that texture and fabric on the mask. On the article I saw that shows the actual screen used mask, there is a blood stain on his mouth area and on the laces in back. So I added those details. Take a look

I also noticed the laces on the side of the mask to hold together the ripped area by his mouth. I didn't notice that before so I added that little detail.

Looks like wool. You gonna run a matte finish over it? I think that'd really make it pop.

I was thinking about doing that. I wasn't sure how it would react with the flocking powder. I might try it on a smail area and see how it looks.

Re: Joebizz34's Customs, Re-Paints and Kitbashing

Well I learned a valuable lesson tonight. :lol Don't put anything over the flocking powder. As soon as I put the matte finish on it, the stuff disolved and it was like it never was there. So I re-applied the powder but this time toned down some.

Here's some low light shots. It's amazing how the lighting and shadows can change the look of the mask. He looks like he is smiling in the first pic.

Ok before I put this custom to bed, I wanted to share a few more pics I took of him including some dark shots with one that show off his glowing eyes effect.

Re: Joebizz34's Customs, Re-Paints and Kitbashing

Ok this is a special post of pics of "my son's" custom Wall-E. He saw me painting and wanted to get into the action. I told him to find something from his play room and he cleverly picked Wall-E to customize because he said in the movie he looks dirty. :lol

Keep in mind that my son is 6 years old and basically did this weathering himself with very little help from me. So please keep that in mind as he begged me to post these pics on here to show you.

Ron love the Wall-E custom yout son did. That is beyond impressive!! He looks naturally dirty with that weathering. Wished I owned something like that, Wall-E is one of my favorites!

Thanks FAL5E. It's one of our fav's too. My son thanks you too and is very proud. :)

By the way, that Wall-E in the pics is a real cool toy. It moves and talks and you can control it with a remote control.

Re: Joebizz34's Customs, Re-Paints and Kitbashing

I had this Alien figure for years now that I thought always looked cool but the paint job was awful. He was a throw in with a bunch of 1/6 bodies that I had bought off eBay way back in 2004. He sat in my basement for a long time and I finally got around to customizing him. Here's the before pics first to show you what he looked like.

Thanks Ski!!! and my son thanks you too. He's so excited to have something he worked on posted on here. :lol

I have a feeling he's going to want to do more. I might have to make a seperate thread just for his stuff. :)
