I don't have too much to add that hasn't already been said, but here are my random initial thoughts:

-It looks visually appealing. That Titanosaurus shot alone is beautiful.
-T-Rex is scary again. The river scene is going to be awesome.
-I love the adventure feel and can't wait to see more of the abandoned InGen facilities on this island. I just hope there's a reasonable explanation of how it's remained hidden all these years.
-That Velociraptor in the glass chamber thingy has two heads.
-The mutant's design looks really bland and uninspired. They should've at least made it look like a dinosaur. I'm also not feeling the flashback scene because it looks way too sci-fi for the Jurassic franchise.
-The dialogue is a bit cringy with too many quips and sassy remarks. A far cry from the dialogue from the lunch scene in JP.
-I was talking on another forum about the Spinos and Mosa having a symbiotic relationship, and that is now confirmed. I'm not opposed to it as in the real world there are cases of animals and even insects working together, but I hope there is a believable explanation as to why these two species formed such a relationship.
-Speaking of the Spinos, I'm not 100% on board with the design. The short, thick neck looks kind of weird. I would've preferred they stuck with the JP/// Spino design. On the other hand, I am looking forward to seeing a pack of large carnivores.
-Dilophosaurus! I'll never say no to more Dilophosaurus. It's just too bad they're going with the JWD Dilo design instead of the classic JP Dilo design.
-The explanation that the dinosaurs on this island were too dangerous for the first park doesn't checkout to me. The dinosaurs in the first movie seemed plenty dangerous. I hope there's a better explanation for why this facility was abandoned and the dinosaurs left behind.

All in all, I went from being cautiously optimistic to very optimistic when we saw the photos yesterday, and now after seeing the trailer I've swung back to very cautiously optimistic :ROFLMAO:

what other forum?

Agreed on every aspect but what flash bavk are you talking about? Also yes I hope we have an explanation as to why the spino and mosa work together. That’s so weird. I feel like the 3 spino would never lol. I miss him now

It makes sense that there would be failed or alternate experiments done by InGen in the pursuit of recreating Dinosaurs for the first park. I reread the book last year and I'm pretty sure Wu/Hammond or someone mentions the different "versions" or "Dino v2.0, v3.0, v4.0" etc. process that they went through in creating the Dinosaurs. I find the concept of an island with all the "prototypes" to be quite interesting.

You are absolutely right. I was actually planning to do some rereading and bring this up in detail sometime soon, but you beat me to it. The fact that in the novel it talks about the different versions (if I'm not mistaken, the T-Rex in the novel is V4.4 or something like that) allows me to accept the idea of an abandoned island with the prototypes running about. I actually think it's a cool angle for the story. I'm still struggling to accept the mutant though

At least, I think it's a flashback scene as the chamber looks to be in good condition, definitely not abandoned and derelict, and the mutant looks way smaller than it appears at other times in the trailer.

I can accept it just because it does happen in nature, but I agree, without a proper explanation it'll seem weird. I'm not the type of person that needs every little detail explained in a movie, but I certainly hope there is a reason given for the Spinos and Mosa working together. I also agree about the JP/// Spino never working with another species. IMO, he was highly territorial and wouldn't share his space with any other animal.

Regardless of how well (or poorly) done the Spinos are in Rebirth, I'll still wish it were the JP/// Spino. I miss him too 😢

There was enough shown to offer something entertaining enough to give this movie a chance. At the very least, it looks to offer more dinosaur action than Dominion delivered, and that's crucial in a franchise about dinosaurs.

As for the new "baddie" creature, the story may have a good idea of why it exists (the idea of it being a failure along the way to getting to the dinosaurs seen in JP 1), however, a good story idea needs an equally good visual to go with it. If this creature is a mistake vs made to look the way it does, it would make more sense to me to just take like a T-Rex and almost zombiefy it vs a design that looks nothing like a dinosaur.

Maybe the design is meant to be like a frog/dinosaur combination, to suggest in early tests, the frog DNA mixed weirdly with the dinosaur DNA.

Regardless, you want a creature design that will get butts in the seats before you have exposition to explain it.

All I know is it better not kill the trex . That will make the movie unwatchable for me. The trope is tired and dead. The Rex better show up in the water battle and not get killed off to show how big and scary this new dino is but it might cause that’s how every jp movie past the lost world has done it

"very cautiously optimistic" is pretty-much where I am too after seeing this trailer. I'll watch in cinema's for the experience with my 10 year old son, but man it's starting to feel like more of the same JW nonsense.

Hopefully the story can grab me with some kind of suspense, unlike the last 2 films in the series where I was all "jesus, what's next..." as I watched them.

Hopefully one day someone has the conviction to properly start over. At this point, I'm open to a new interpretation of the original novel. Or even a bare-bones sequel to the novel, with a gritty survival plot with just a single "big bad" T-Rex and some raptors as the antagonists. Something that feels like what Prey did for The Predator franchise; not necessarily a prequel, but a similar starkness.

You know at this point, after looking again at that mutant, I think I would have preferred if they just said "f#@k it!" and literally put the Star Wars rancor in there and gone full lazy multiverse... that would probably have interested me more (and pissed of two fanbases in the process haha)

The visuals look good. I like Jonathan Bailey as an actor and his character looks interesting. ScarJo is generic girl boss (she has more range than this so hopefully the character is more nuanced).

The premise is awful and very video game like.... we need dna from the three biggest and most scary dinos to cure cancer or something sheesh. Hopefully that's a ruse and big pharma Burke stand-in just actually wants dna from the three biggest dinos for something else and he makes a meta comment to our heroes about how dumb they are to believe that story.

Musical score in trailer was interesting.

One of my friends said enthusiastically that it was giving him skull Kong Island vibes, but I don't want that anywhere near a Jurassic movie thank you.

The colour pallet evokes 1993 JP which is nice.

Cave troll lobstricity looks like so unimaginative. It's basically Snyder's doomsday having a baby with a cave troll whilst trying to act like a rancor.

I just hope that the movie is smarter than it looks and there are actual themes to explore. Hopefully just trying to appeal to all the dummies who like the world trilogy with this trailer. One can hope.
Why'd you have to mention Snyder's Doomsday and ruin my evening? :)

I just realized something. Jp is kinda more successful and relevant than Star Wars now. 😂. The toys sell, the films make billions and it’s on its 4th movie in the new trilogy? Would anybody have believed that in 2015? Nope. Generic crap or not the movie pleases people more than rey does 😂

So you're saying a multiverse crossover could be on the cards!? ;)
