Jurassic World Rebirth (2025)

There's a lot of things you could try, but really, the only stories in this franchise that work and make sense to me are Jurassic Park, The Lost World and Jurassic World. The other stories feel forced and just don't work as well.

Guy creates a park and it fails, makes sense. Dinosaurs were bread in a separate location from the show room and are still alive on that island, makes sense, though in a rational world, you would expect government to step in and put in resources to ensure they remain on that island only or put them down.

Decades later, park is opened again, it works for a time, but eventually greed leads to failure, makes sense, end of story.

The plot to Fallen Kingdom and Dominion really feel like desperation for an excuse to make another movie, and JP3 is just as bad.

Fallen kingdom missed so much potential trying to be the lost world 2.0. The plot should have been island based only and actually should have been the plot for rebirth. A team looks for survivors and comes across failed experiments on the first island.

JP3 is just as bad.
At least we had SWS on it. The film wasn't shot as artfully as the previous two on account of not being directed by Spielberg, but at least the practical effects were killer.

Oddly enough, I'm only now realizing that it's hard for me to want to collect characters or creatures that were never physical to begin with. That must be why the '80s and '90s stuff has such an allure.

The Creator was so bad.

This movie gonna suck but at least it will look pretty while sucking.
It may not suck. It has ScarJo. And I'll pretty much watch anything with reasonable dinosaurs.
:Wizard

Tho IMO after the first one, there's a lot of child abuse. Who brings a kid to where they might get eaten.

There was indeed. An early concept for Jurassic Park 4 had human-dinosaur hybrids. See a post of mine from back in December to witness the horror for yourself:

^ Guess I was wrong about not taking the mutant dino rumors to heart :slap:lol
Yup, that's what I remember seeing. Good lord. I'm actually hoping we get to that point in this franchise. Why the F not? :rotfl Just jump the shark completely

Hell, the hole movie could have been about rescuing dinosaurs from the decaying island and have things go wrong with that instead of that being a means to the selling dinos and more DNA play plot.

Yeah they're jumping the shark already might as well do even more dumb straight to TV B-movie crap.
Human/dino hybrids are only slightly goofier than 4 armed mutant dinosaurs.

Going from the books (Both JP and TLW), a sequel that deals with the parks funding evil bioresearch like those monster locusts would make the most sense.
Dinos were the sizzle, but the steak of the story was business and scientific ethics in new frontiers. That's what the new trilogy actually got right, though it was badly bungled. Science run amok without oversight, industry engaging in unethical practices, the commodification of nature for profit, that's what JP is about.
Everything else is frosting.

This is correct. The dinosaurs were window dressing.

I remember being shocked when I saw the first film that, essentially, the movie stopped halfway through the book. By the midway point, control of the park had been re-established, but then it became clear that they never actually had control, and the whole second half of the novel didn't have anyone getting eaten by dinos, but rather discovering just how badly they had underestimated the difficulties of managing the park.

I'm sure it's been said in this thread and elsewhere but why not a Walking Dead or Last of Us concept but with a Dinosaur breakout? Modernized cave man movie with a wider variety of beasts to contend with and you can't just hit T-Rex in the head with a bat... :)

If I'm not mistaken, there was a deleted scene or at least a plan for a scene where Owen and Claire, while searching for Claire's nephews, come across another hybrid in the restricted zone, leading to the revelation that Dr. Wu has been creating hybrids in secret and letting them loose in the jungle. The hybrid question was called a Stegoceratops, and it is briefly seen on a computer screen in the lab scene towards the end with Hoskins. In addition, it got two toy releases.

I just found your comment interesting because this deleted scene would've been almost exactly what you're talking about. In hindsight knowing how JWFK and JWD turned out, it's a plot I wouldn't have said no to instead.

How is it that we had such a downgrade in animatronics. The art is so lost. Compared Childs play 2019 to 1988 and it’s night and day. Same with this. You’d think with new tech the dinosaurs would look better than in 93

Interesting. You can tell they wanted to explore more of the danger zone that wasn’t part of the park but chose not to. There was early art of a raptor on an old jeep outside the park.
