I do not know what crow is talking about. 65 was terrible. It started, boring things happened, then it ended. I'm easy on movies but man was this a waste of time. Saw Raimi's name on this and was disappointed some more.

I did say that it was slow and had very little dinosaurs. but, Adam driver was pretty cool. I liked him. and the planet was cool looking. I liked the premise

There is a new dinosaur movie that takes place in the Vietnamese war and has soilders fighting dinosaurs that’s supposed to come out soon

Jeez I feel like jp 3 was kinda heading in the right direction. I mean new dinosaurs, new threats and stuff. I mean I hated the spino at first but now I love it cause ot did give the franchise exactly what it needed. Just new antagonist. Trex is my main dino but yea.

I feel like jw also was trying new things and was a step in the right direction. A functional park is huge imo.

I was thinking about this the other day...Grant terrifies the kid by talking about the raptor slicing him open (like the picture above) but in reality the claw is curved downward and while still leathal, isn't quite what he tells the kid. I always figured it was just hyperbole to scare the kid but it always bugged me a bit...Although compared to the more recent films, the above is Citizen Kane stuff...

I always thought that maybe Sam Neill simply held the claw wrong when he first holds it up for the kid to see, but since the take was so good, they just went with it :lol

I actually think Grant's talk with the kid, specifically the part about the belly being slashed open and the intestines spilling out was inspired by Nedry's death in the novel.

he's clearly seems to be giving the kid the middle finger with the claw no?
it's not that he's holding it incorrectly, it looks like a middle finger raised up

Once on the ground it can claw in any direction it wishes, no?...

Agree, I couldn't even finish it...

I just thought it was interesting that Grant showed the claw upside down and described the gutting from down to up, if I recall. It's been a while. I think to answer your question, I don't think they could slide the way Grant describes unless they were on top of their prey, inverted (insert Top Gun reference) :)

Agreed, it was just a bit lazy to once again get rid of the park and then again have the dinos escape into the world.
Oh well. Hollywood's franchise-itis seems to be an incurable disease.

Something I appreciate about JP/// is the world building it did. We got to see more of Sorna, abandoned facilities not seen in TLW, a different tribe of Velociraptors, the Spinosaurus, two new herbivores, the aviary and the Pteranodons. A lot of cool and interesting things that complemented the franchise.

I think not having the T-Rex and Spino fight would've been a better direction to go, and the T-Rex NOT being killed would've absolutely been a better direction to go. If it were up to me, I would've simply had the T-Rex appear in maybe one good scene on its own and let it take a backseat to the Spino for the rest of the movie. It still would've allowed the Spino to be the new big bad without being so polarizing and controversial.

That aside, I have warmed up to JP/// over the years and enjoy it as a basic adventure movie set in the Jurassic universe. I do often wonder though what could've been had they had a proper story locked in before they started filming.

Same! I think killing the trex wasn’t the best move. But adding a new dinosaur was smart imo. I think if it hadn’t killed the trex the movie would have been received way better than it did. Now we all miss the spino. Funny how history works.

People use to praise mcu hulk as the best hulk in fiction and now people hate him. Pt was hated now it’s loved. Spino was hated now we want it to come back lol.

I do want to know what the film would be like if the baryonx was the main antagonist. I think that would have been interesting. Like I wonder if it was gonna be a huge baryonx or a regular size one.

100%. A lot of the disdain for JP/// back in the day seemed to originate from the Spino killing the T-Rex. That doesn't happen, and I think the movie gets a much better reception IMO.

Yep funny how that works. It took a while, but the Spino finally got a seat on the JP Big Bad Council :lol

Assuming the plan was always to have the new big bad kill a T-Rex, I imagine they would've upscaled it. But Baryonyx wasn't a huge dino, so they would've had to upscale it big time. I'm glad they didn't because:
A) Spinosaurus looks way cooler than Baryonyx, and it is a large dino. No significant upscaling required.
B) I think Baryonyx serves the role of a medium sized threat well (like Carnotaurus, Ceratosaurus, and Allosaurus). It has that long snout, big hook claw on each hand, and can traverse swamps, rivers, and other bodies of water efficiently. It's cool as is. It's like a crocodile with legs. Making it insanely bigger feels unnecessary.

I'm not sure how close Baryonyx was to officially being the new big bad in JP///, but it was close enough to end up on the logo at some point early in production.

A rumor that's been gaining some traction is that there are going to be two T-Rex in Rebirth. I do remember reading a comment back when the Rebirth trailer first dropped saying the T-Rex on the river bank and the T-Rex biting at the person in the water are two different individuals. I personally didn't think so as I couldn't spot any obvious difference, so I didn't pay it much thought.

However, the merch that's been revealed so far does seem to point in that direction. The action figures, as well as a t-shirt graphic, show a T-Rex that's predominately gray with black stripes.

That's obviously a much different color scheme than the T-Rex seen in the trailer, which is predominately brown with dark orange along the back and on the hip, and black stripes.

What do you guys think? Is it just matter of merch companies being lazy and using a more generic, simple color scheme for the T-Rex? Or does the theory seem possible based on what little evidence is available?

For what it's worth, many pages back, one of the ideas I floated was for there to be a pair of sibling Tyrannosaurs in Rebirth. I don't think they'd do a breeding pair again as it's been done. I am almost never right with my ideas or predictions, but by God, I'm going to cling to this one because maybe it'll actually turn out to be true :lol

I have not heard that rumor (about the green T-Rex), but that would be cool. I think it's safe to say there will be a T-Rex, but I've been wondering how they could do something different for that particular species. A couple of the ideas I've come up with:
1) An old large male T-Rex, all battle scarred and fiercely territorial.
2) A pair of T-Rex siblings.
3) A pack of T-Rex, consisting of adults and juveniles.

I heard this rumor aswell. I hope it’s true. But my fear is that I’m thinking the stupid drex thing may take out one of these rex to show dominance. But maybe trex will save the day again? If so then that would be a bit contrived. How many times have we had a dino save the day? Well that is def a green Rex and the one marketed is def gray
