Probably a deliberate thing. The whole point is to prove Malcolm right; these people wield genetic power like a kid that found his dad's gun. The scientists are the overconfident ones because, of course, there's a bit of a god complex in having made the creature. The business folks, on the other hand, are clearly in doubt, but the profit potential is too great for them to stop what's begun.
