The only thing I can help out with here is that the PS3 is unbelievably quiet when running, especially compared to the 360. The 360 sounds like a gas powered leaf blower when you campare it to the PS3.

What do you mean about losing the 60G hard drive?

Just get a cheap PS3 and upgrade the hard drive with whatever size you want if you are talking about storage space.

Well the problem is that I got this one cheap and don't want to spend the $200 plus on eBay for a working system that is just minus the hard drive. My friend told me last night that there is a chance Sony may repair it and just make me pay $150 bucks.. I dunno.
