Now the collector in me wants to get some of those replica wands from the Noble Collection.
Anybody got any of these? Whats the quality and the packaging like? do they come across as cheap or are they a genuine prop replicas collectors dream?? Any help?

Personally, I think the movie failed... I think it is the weakest on the whole of the movies, yet it was the best in Character protrayal and special effects... I think everything but the storyline and was handled prefectly! The death of the main character was done better than in the book, the interaction of the character was great but, I felt as thought there was no Teachers, no Malfoy or 3rd Party characters, bar Cho... George and Fred, barely there, who of which played a massive part of the book. Mr Weaseley's plot line, 26 sec of screen time...MAX

Basically my Girlfriend Luci, she's one of the best film reviewers I know, At the end of the movie I turned to her and she simply shrugged... I mirror her review. neither here nor there... PS. I love the Potter Books and Movies, I just thing out of the 5 so far this one is on par with Potter#1

Personal Harry Potter Movie Rankings:
1. Goblet of Fire
2. Chamber of Secrets
3. Prisoner of Azkaban
4. Philosopher's Stone
5. The Order of the Phoenix

Books
1. Prisoner of Azkaban
2. Half Blood Prince
3.The Order of the Phoenix
4. Goblet of Fire
5. Philosopher's Stone
6. Chamber of Secrets

saw it over the weekend with my wife, she's a huge fan of the books and movies, i'm just a fan of the films. i thought this one was so-so, nothing too great or "ooooo, aaaahhh" about it.

i'd wait for dvd next time.

i've never seen any of the replica wands though.

A friend of mine collects these. She has Harry's, Snape's, and (I believe) Dumbledore's wands. She loves them and is really impressed with the quality. She let me handle Snape's wand, and while Noble isn't Master Replicas, the wands are very nice for the price.

I have all the wands and the Malfoy wand cane and the Gryffindor sword and scarf adn all I can say is: Top Notch. The Noble Collection really nailed these pieces and with a payment plan spanning six months? No brainer! I got all the wands and wand stands with the cane/sword and scarf in one order with the six month payment plan and I still relish in the decision to do so.

Go for it!

At least get Voldemort, Hermione and Dumbledore's wands. They are particularly cool!

I have Lucius' cane and all the wands except Neville's (which I believe is the most recent). All are pretty cool and accurate from Goblet of Fire on. Harry's wand changed quite a bit but I noticed that in Phoenix it was consistant with Goblet. The most boring wand is Draco Malfoy's which is pretty much just a wooden dowel. I'd recommend them.

The light up ones are a bit thick and toy like but the motion activation is kind of cool - but not lightsaber cool.

I'm hoping they release Umbridge's, her's was very distinctive.

I got my girlfriend Hermione's wand and the Timeturner a few Christmases ago and she loves them. The only quality issue is that the chain the Timeturner comes on is plastic, but I actually think it's a good way to keep the cost reasonable. Plus it does come with a neat little display case. The wands each come with a cool box that doesn't have any cheesey logos to ruin the authenticity. Thumbs up!

So is that really Moody's wand, or Barty Crouch Jr.'s? In OotP, Moody just used his staff. I guess he could have had his wand in his staff ala Hagrid's Umbrella.

That's a good question....I am just wondering if they will sell Moody's Staff...It didn't look that incredibly different from Gandalf's. They could do it! ....I wonder if they will bother, due to the size!?

I got alll the wands, there great. The Tri-wizard set is nice with the case.

As far as the movie, it was good, not the best. To me there all one movie, the 1st was great since its your 1st taste of the wizard world, but the new movie had more story and less magic. My only complaint is I thought it was "choppy". It seemed some scenes just went blank. Bad editing but its more trying to put the biggest book in the shortest film of the series. They need an extended edition like LOTR.

just wanted to thank everyone for their opinions on these pieces, I'm convinced, I'll get em then. I know a place knocking them out for 15 quid delivered!

As for the stands, I've seen one which looks OK, the only thing I think the wands could have done with is an explanation plaque a la Master Replicas. I may do an A6 standee to go behind each one with a pic of the owner, the logo and some relevant livery to add a more atmospheric touch.
If I get these done and you guys are interested I'll make them available to you as well.

That's one drawback about the wands - no documentation except a generic card. So you have to know who's wand it is, there's no indication on the box at all.

As for the "choppy" editing in the film. It's a more naturalistic style that you usually see in biodrama's such as United 93. I assume Yates wanted to make it seem like Harry's world truly is just on the outskirts of our world and the photography and editing was more cinema verite than we've seen in the series previously. Of course there's also the problem of trying to cram everything in - but I do believe the editing style is a choice and not necessarily a bad one.

Interesting... I obviously should see this again. :monkey5

I have to chime in on Yates as well. I found the editiing to be really fresh. I kind of wish they hadn't done the dark, stormy Potter logo at the beginning because immediately after it was like you flipped channels into a different style of movie. Since this is the story where Harry begins to mature (but not before going through several teen angst meltdowns) I thought it was appropriate that the style was a lot more realistic. Still, it's all in how you imagined it (if you read the books). I found OOTP to be almost a chore to read at times, so I liked getting most of the landmarks without all the melodrama. Some folks site OOTP as thier favorite book which boggles my mind, but then again I enjoy Alien 3. :D
Bottom line, as long as Columbus doesn't come back for Deathly Hallows, I'm very willing to check out each director's interpretation.

I just saw HP5 and i thought it was one of the better ones so far.(i liked it better than GOF)

then again i have not read the books.

I recently read all of the books, and not surprisingly really liked them much better than the films... but now I do appreciate the films a bit more. Anyway, seriously worth the read.
