Just read them all now. You can bust out the first three books in three days. Books 4-7 will take you a little bit longer, but really worth it.

If i read them now i'll probably be disappointed in the next 2 movies.Ya know how that goes,I thought 5 was the best so far.

Well....you surely know what is being left out, but I think you appreciate the movies more when you read the books. They are so rich is character development and themes that don't translate that well to the films.

I hope Del Toro gets asked again to direct and does the last film.

I loved Azkaban and think del Toro did a great job. But I'd actually prefer a great action director to take on Deathly Hallows - like Spielberg. Now that would be perfect. He's got the Private Ryan experience that would come in handy. (trying to avoid spoilers).

Just watch OOTP on Blu Ray. I forgot how much I really enjoyed it. The fight between the Order and the Death eaters was SO good. I wished that part was even a litte longer, but it was outstanding. Then of course the fight between Voldemort and Dumbledore was freaking awesome.

I dunno.

Spoiler**********
(Although its probably redundant)

I expected the Voldemort/Dumbledore duel to be much more one sided as in the book. I would have liked to have seen the statues leaping in front of Voldie's curses while Albus lectures him.

I just finished the book about a week ago. How was the fight "one sided" in the book? Voldemort bailed out when he realized "Dumbledore could win", but I didn't remember it being totally one sided. I saw it as fairly even.

I got the distinct impression Dumbledore was holding back, and the ease at which he deflected and countered his most powerful curses "like he was strolling down the hall" made me feel that if Voldemort had stayed the end wouldn't be in doubt.
I also liked how Dumbledore used his whole environment and Fawkes, while Voldemort relied only on himself.

del Toro didn't do any Harry Potter movies.

Hmmmm, well I supposed it's open to opinion and yes, I do remember now how it was described how calm Dumbledore was during the battle, but in the books he's almost ALWAYS like that so I am not sure if that's because he was holding back. I suppose knowing about the Horcrux's he also knew he could not "kill" Voldemort then so he used the paln of "defense" which was a lot earier than "attack" I suppose.

Interesting thoughts though.

Well read book six and you find out why it was one-sided....

....resisting urge to spoil.......:monkey3:monkey3

Unfortunately we never got to see a no holds barred confrontation between the two. There were bystanders and such that Dumbledore had to consider. It was a good illustration of Dumbledore's superiority when even the very capable wizards were evenly matched against the Death Eaters and he corrals them with 'invisible ropes' rather easily. Harry's speech to Voldemort at the end of TDH really drives home how much more Dumbledore understood about the various forms of magic where Voldemort only studied what he felt he could use.
The Kings Cross chapter really answers a lot of questions and puts things into perspective about how power and ability are only tools and there are many more factors that come into play.
It reminds me of when I was in High School in my commercial art class and we had a rep from one of the art colleges come in and talk to us. He looked around at some of our work and said " I see some good talent here, but talent is cheap. There's lots of talent out there. Its actually pretty common. Whats rare is the drive to do something with it."
