I watched TDK a couple of weeks ago and I just watched 10 Things I Hate About You for the first time since before Heath Ledgers death. The juxtaposition really goes to show just how amazing his Joker performance was. Just the voice alone was amazing.
A few years ago I watched a Letterman interview with someone (forget who), and he was talking about how on broadway it is somewhat common practice to inject or apply a steroid to an actors voice box to keep the actors voice strong night after night. While not exactly the same situation, I'm wondering if something similar was used to give Heath Ledger such a dynamic range, from the deep gravelly sinister voice to the high pitched Joker laugh.
