Can you recommend a couple of good Hellblazer trades? I always love JC when I've come across him but never really explored his career.

Well, first things first, you have to look at the original Vertigo Hellblazer title, because everything since he ot folded into the main continuity has ranged from rubbish to mediocre. Apart from that, since the book is 300 issues, I've not yet finished it, so I'll go with some of the most widely accepted "best stories", and some faves. For starters:

*Issues 1-9 (Original Sins): No sprawling arcs here, mostly just a collection of one-and-done stories. Most have been adapted in the tv show, so you'll probably recognize them and be able to be eased into the property easier.

*Issue 27 (Hold Me): It's a one-off by Gaiman, and it's not there to shock you, but move you.

*Issues 41-46 (Dangerous Habits): It was the basis for the film, lung-cancer and all, plus it's written by Ennis. Another "familiar" story to get the hang of it.

*Issues 78-83 (Rake at the Gates of Hell): Ennis' final story. You might have to do some digging on characters like Gabriel & Chas first, but it's still worth it.

*Issues 134-139 (Haunted): Come on, it's Warren Ellis, of course it's good.

Well, I hope these are enough for a start. Happy reading! :wave

Limiting myself to one per franchise...

  1. Neo
  2. Luke Skywalker
  3. Captain James T. Kirk
  4. Indiana Jones
  5. The Lone Ranger
  6. The Doctor
  7. The Six Million Dollar Man
  8. Batman
  9. Superman
  10. Spider-Man

Ooops, I forgot about Dr. Who.

For me, I didn't just pick my favorite franchises and take their top hero. I actually picked my favorite heroes despite their franchise. That's why Luke Skywalker and Neo didn't make my cut. I never really left the theater "wanting to be" those guys.

Fair enough. Though I put Neo above Luke despite overall preferring SW to The Matrix.

Plus it's arguable who the main character of the SW saga is, Luke or Anakin. (Though sounds like it's an easy choice for Khev...!)

1. Batman
2. Spider-Man
3. Snake Eyes
4. Boba Fett
5. The Wolf Man
6. Predator
7. Hannibal Lector
8. Doc Holliday
9. Dwayne Hicks
10. Roland Deschain

1. Batman
2. Megatron
3. Cobra Commander
4. Beetlejuice
5. Pee-Wee Herman
6. Popuko
7. Skeletor
8. Ellen Ripley
9. Gaston
10. Zack Snyder

I have been trying to make a list of characters sine I saw this thread earlier today and then I realized that I have more comic-inspired characters on here than anything else. I've been having a very hard time getting it down to 10. First some runner ups.

- Rocky Balboa
- T800 Terminator 2 edition
- Ezio Auditore Assassin Creed series (especially 2)
- Stitch from Lilo & Stitch
- X-23 from Logan
-Raphael TMNT

10. Captain Rex - In a world full of force-powered beings, he found a way to kick *** in every battle and out of the clones he was the most interesting as far as I'm concerned. I loved Fives as well, but I had to go with Rex as number 1.

9. Magneto - Cold, calculating & cunning. Magneto was always a fascinating character to me and, for a villain, very relatable. My favorite villain in the comics and this is only reinforced more by Fassbender's Erik in the newer X-Men films.

8. Vito Corleone - A great character in one of the best film's ever made. In fact, I may even love Robert De Niro's Vito even more because it showed how he built his empire and made a name for himself. The Godfather films have so many great characters, it was very hard to pick between Vito and Michael.

7. Koba - The new planet of the apes films have intrigued me in a way the old ones just never really did. Ceasar is great, but the villain in these films take the cake for me. Koba, like Magneto, is easy to understand and sympathize with but he cannot get out of his own rage and he goes to the next level. One of the best villains in recent movie history imo.

6. Scorpion - The MK games always had a very neat mythology to me (like the comic series is or was taking advantage of), Scorpion is also a character that looks very cool. Like Star Wars, I like the mythology better than most of the games or media, and Scorpion is the one character I consistently gravitated to the most. Love his look.

5. Darth Maul - I don't even know how to justify him being on my list especially above Vito Corleone only but to say that he looks so frickin cool ad I have never got tired of his appearance or his one major scene in an otherwise atrocious movie. Such a visually striking character.

4. Black Panther - Thisis a risky pick but I have loved the character since the Avengers EMH cartoon and then read the Preist run. Yes, he's like Batman, but I love the king angles as well. As a comic character I can't ay he is my hands down number one, but Civil War really brought him to life in a manner that really appealed to me. As with everyone in the MCU, he is more grounded and less "powerful", but Chadwick Boseman is a perfect actor for him and his design, his presentation, his lines just all screamed badass, regal, and royalty.

3. Wolverine/Logan - Was not a huge fan of him in the comics (didn't dislike him at all but I loved Magneto, Nightcrawler, Mystique, and Deadpool) more but Hugh Jackman made him such a fun character to watch and he did it so consistently for so long. I don't know if I could watch anybody play one character so many times and be so likable. I love Iron Man, but even RBJ has given me stale performances where I just didn't really care for him at all (Iron Man 3). For Jackman to always make me love a character that I didn't really love in the source material, kudos all around.

2. Kratos - I love Greek mythology and the first God of War game completely caught me off guard and blew me away. KRatos was a big reason for that. He is Greek myth's "Hulk" except he's always smart and cunning and doesn't need to transform. He's always pissed and he runs through everything and everyone. Just the epitome of power and vengeance.

1.Godzilla - So many films, so many renditions. And I love that Godzilla can be so many things. But to me, he is an unstoppable badass that is nature's vengeance on mankind. The first film presented him in a way that no other monster movie has come close to matching for me. I loved the nuclear horror he was, just his presence alone would kill people with radioactivity. Loved everything about him in the more seriously toned films.

Ha, the main character does change depending on your canon doesn't it? ;)

SW OT: Luke Skywalker

PT + OT: Anakin Skywalker

PT + OT + TFA: Skywalker family in general

Nice. :lol

Hicks is definitely in my Top 10 movie characters. I think it's a bummer that Michael Biehn never really had much of a career outside of Jim Cameron films.

that has always bothered me. but at the same time his roles become that much more iconic because you only remember him in those roles, then those roles become much more iconic
