The ^^^^ing Ben Franklin stopped selling mohair! :cuss :banghead

I bought some fur and died it a bit, but that won't cut it. Oh well, I might have to ebay some mohair. F'n Ben Franklin...

On a happier note, I'm done with painting and weathering and am very happy with how it turned out. :rock

Well the weekend came and ended with a big 'ol helpin' of FAIL. :monkey4 It sounds like I'll have to order the mohair. I tried fur but it really did not work out. If anyone has any suggestions on what to do with the hair, I'd be much obliged.

Good news is that Myers is DONE except for the hair. :rock Can't wait to get this thing 100% finished. It may not be the best Myers, but damnit, it's MY myers!

Well, a good solution for lack of Mohair.. nowhere near where I live sells it either.. so I just use faux fur from Hobby lobby. Cut off sections and glue them to the head. paint it black, and maybe add some gel here and there. :rock

so I just use faux fur from Hobby lobby

Seriously? The wife suggested faux fur (she found some in the craft section of the hobby store). I looked at the fur, then told her there was "no way" I could make that work. She then said "well, maybe with gel..." to which I responded "I'm not putting gel on an action figure..."

Shows what I know. Next time, I'm listening to the wife. :lol

Alright, thanks for the advice, I'll give it a go. Next post will *finally* feature pictures of the completed figure.

:lol Yeah, it was a crapshoot for me as well... I just went with it.

I'll have to post pics of my next Myers in work to show you how I did it, pretty simple, but you have to make sure it is laying the right way to make it look decent.

Man looking forward to seeing Meyers completed and I have no doubt what ever way you go with the hair he will look great.

Thanks man, I appreciate that!

And DA, if you are able to post those pics, that would go a long way to prevent me from becoming this guy

I have two cameras and both apparently suck for shooting close up shots of figures. :sick

Here's the best shot I could get of my *finally* completed Captain Jack Harkness head(s). This is my very first completed human head, and I'm pretty happy with it for a first try.

Well, I shouldn't say it was my first try, I "finished" him a couple of times and then wasn't happy so I dunked him in some water, scrubbed the paint off and tried again.

Here's the unpainted sculpt by Dean (DarkAngelDTB):

And here's my attempt at painting it:

I'm going to have to touch up the hair around the ears... I know it's not the best, but damnit, it's mine!

Jack is a hard guy to do 'cause sometimes his hair is really dark, sometimes it's brown with blonde highlights, and his skin is very pale. It was hard to settle on one particular "version." I have a body and some clothes on order and I'm putting the finishing touches on the coat right now.

Looks great! Pale skinned characters are hard to do, just more difficult to get much skin tone variation in there. Unless they are dead or monsteriffic. :lol

I think you did a great job, can't wait to see the full figure. :rock
