Van Damme is doing nothing but overseas films that never hit stateside theaters anymore. I wouldn't be surprised he's hurting for cash. He blew through a lot of it in the 90's when he was a drug addict. So him being attached to the project is no surprise. He's said he regretted passing on the first Expendables.
