Disclaimer - Chris Nolan and Michael Fassbender had nothing to do with this movie.

So, to whoever's still here, Kings of Summer is a coming of age drama/comedy written by my friend Chris. It opened this weekend in NY and LA and will go wider in the next few weeks. If you want a break from the 'splosions please give it a shot. I'm not exactly objective but I love the **** out of this movie. :)

I think it looks cool, probably not something I'd see in a theatre tbh, but I definitely want to see it.

In a way I think you hit the nail on the head - most likely the people it's aimed at will find it on cable down the road. Particularly because I believe it goes truly wide the same weekend as Man of Steel. :slap :lol Chris has been asking people to buy a KOS ticket and sneak into MOS.

It's all good, though! You gotta start somewhere.

Been looking forward to this one. Has gotten some great reviews. Will def. check it out.

Yeah, most of the negative reviews I've seen are "it's not Wes Anderson-level." That's not too bad if that's the comparison your getting.

Nick Offerman makes everything good. I will watch this. Not in the theater. Because it'll never come around here. But for sure at some point.

Offerman got the movie made. No-name screenwriter and tiny budget were not appealing to most actors in the age range, go figure. He's the first person who read it and actively wanted to do it.

I just watched Parks and Recreation for the first time. He and Aubrey Plaza were great.

If there's any chance of seeing Alison Brie naked or partially naked I'll watch this. :lecture

It actually looks pretty good to me.

This actually looks like something up my alley. Seems it will be playing in a theater not too far from me, so with your endorsement, I think I'll go check it out.
Nice to see you supporting your friend, Thom. There are far too many talented and worthwhile writers and artists who struggle for opportunity and are constantly overshadowed and overlooked. I'm glad this film got made and I look forward to seeing it.

I stand corrected. Maybe it does stand a chance against Superman. :lol

That looks like the greatest Double Mint gum commercial ever.

Thanks, dude! I don't usually read Faraci's reviews. The Stand by Me comparison is very common and ironic - Chris saw SBM for the first time two weeks ago on a triple feature bill with Kings of Summer and Goonies. He said if he had seen it he never would have written KOS for fear of being a pale imitation.

I hope you love it!

Chris has been extremely fortunate. He knows it, and he's really humbled by it. Who sells their first screenplay?! I've known him for a long time and I hoped, out of any of my "film geek" friends, that he would actually get somewhere. I feel like it's my karmic duty to get some asses in the seats.
