Based upon the acclaimed comic book and directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass, X-Men First Class), Kingsman: The Secret Service tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.

Gee, Vaughan directing a Millar project, wonder if I'll go see this in the theatre? :lol

He apparently wrote this with the same cowriter he did Stardust, KA1, and 1st class with. :panic:

Yeah SLJ plays a better villain than hero for me too.

That article you posted in the X thread was great, loved seeing his thought process concerning this and Bond and the X flicks. Figured it would be a good read when it started out with him and Mark are sitting in a bar... :lol

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this film. I went into it expecting an entertaining time that would help preoccupy me during the dry spell between Oscar Season and the Summer Blockbusters. What followed was one of the biggest surprises I've ever experienced. A fun, fresh thrill ride; Kingsman put a unique new spin on the classic, over-the-top Moore Bond films that we know and love. It plays up genre conventions with wit and candor, and that kind of self-awareness is what makes it so much damn fun.

Colin Firth is in top form, and is extremely entertaining, particularly when paired with Samuel L. Jackson, and Vaughn manages to balance the gratuitous violence in a way that actually makes it seem palatable to the general audience. You can't help but smile at the insanity of the spectacle before you, and there's a brief moment where you think "what the **** is wrong with me" before immediately switching back to "ah, what the hell, this is some cool ****." I cannot recommend this movie highly enough. It may be my favorite of all of Vaughn's films that I've seen.

Great review man!

I'm currently waiting for the movie to start, I hope I like is as much as you did.

Just saw it, felt like I was watching an epic summer movie during the winter, really hope it does well enough to warrant a sequel.

I hope Vaughn comes back to the X-Men franchise someday, he would have been perfect for Deadpool.
