So wait, they can do a Gorn with rubber skin, but the tooling for the Borg Queen or a FC drone would be too expensive on an articulated figure?
They are probably apples and oranges, requiring different skills, different factories, different materials, with the latter taking up more resources that are also needed elswhere.

My understanding is It's the manufacturing costs because it has a bespoke skin I suppose. It's too costly to produce in large numbers, presumably because its price point means a lot of people who claim they are interested will bow out. I think he caught a cold with Seven, who was arguably far more popular and doesn't want to go down that road again.

He may also have grossly underestimated interest.
I don’t see how he would have underestimated the interest. People have been asking about it for a while now.

Guys, he knows the interest level. The more I think about this release , the more I believe it is most likely his latest Sales pitch to drum up more demand. There is no way his cult club idea can offer any scaling of production meaning he will lose money in a very small run. Contrary to what you guys think, you actually need increased of production or scaling of a product to make it more affordable per unit. Then there is also the legal licensing aspect of selling a licensed product under the table I’m sure Paramount and its licensed holder will not allow.

In regards to this one being an exclusive for his cult club, I just cannot see how he can produced a small quantity of say 100-200 and call it a day with the cost of production, licensing and labor. If he really want to make a small quantity, the other issue is it might end up being a $500 + figure and at that price point, it might even be the breaking point even for a die hard fan but that price point might be what it will take if he only want to sell 200 Gorns.

He is not stupid and even though he tells everyone he is losing money on some figures I really doubt it. I get the passion but you must scale a product to not lose money. You might not make alot of money but you definitely will not lose money if you have scale with a product. Of course this does not factor in actual demand. The guy is a salesman and knows the potential of this run. He cannot be making the figure because he loves the buyers and would be even willing to make it when he is losing money
