I was hoping he'd get hit the whole time.... the funny thing is , he'd probably still score 50+ points with a broken leg :lol

Is this a Nike commercial? Then it has to be fake - I can see the insurance company cancelling their policy immediatley.

If he's just doing it for a lark...impressive.

Definatley not real.. Laker brass would have a heart attack if he really attempted this.. When you have a 20 plus mill contract per season alot of restrictions are in play, including jumping over speeding vehicles..

The car's behind him, but I think he would have made it anyway

Its not behind him at all. He over the passenger side but its not behind him. Look at the shadow from a light, he stands with his feet just in front of it and when he jumps you can clearly see that the cars wheels go right over that shadow he was standing in front of. When he lands he lands a few feet in front of this spot.

They probally did a bunch of test runs, plus lets be realistic this is not exactly the tallest car in the world. I looked and the height is 50" at its highest point which is the window. So he needs to be able to jump so he can get his feet 4 1/2 feet off the ground and stay up for 1 second. Yes it was one second from the time he left the ground until he landed. So for a person of his abilities this is not that hard.

I had a friend so the same thing with a lower civic back in HS. They were driving slower but he cleared it pretty easy but he did it as a running start, not a standing jump.

From the LA times..

There were a few "truth or fiction?" moments when Bryant was shown on a viral-marketing video leaping over a speeding car, skillfully landing on his feet and hugging teammate Ronny Turiaf, who stood nearby.

After Bryant landed, he exclaimed, "That is how you jump over an Aston Martin, boy. That's how you do it."

The video was created by Nike to market its new Hyperdunk shoe and had drawn more than 300,000 viewers on YouTube.

The video drew concern from some Lakers fans, although Bryant wasn't really jumping over a moving car. He said it was created with special effects.

yeah watch people who buy his shoes start copying that stunt and putting it on youtube. all good until someone gets hurt/killed then sues nike for it. :lol

I knew it was fake a few days ago when i first saw it. Looks unnatural when he's landing.

LOL@ those thought it was real.
