The Republic of Korea's troops are stepping into winter fashion in a big way -- with all new threads and a sweet-ass rifle.

The new new battle uniforms would provide protection against nuclear, biological, and chemical attacks, and would feature automatic temperature control. A new protective vest is also planned. In addition to keeping the lead out, the helmet will be prewired for minicam video transmission, GPS navigation, and assorted networking gear
And the gun?

The double-barreled K-11 assault rifle lets the shooter fire either NATO 5.56- or 20-millimeter grenades, all off the same trigger. Day and night aiming is accomplished with a thermal target seeker and laser that calculates distance automatically--a true point-and-shoot.
Oh man, WANT! I just question how legitimate this new gear is seeing how the picture looks suspiciously like someone Xeroxed the cover of an old sci-fi novel.

Wow, this is crazy...one more step closer to total human annihilation, I wish we would pump as much energy and resources into peaceful ways to keep the peace...

this is a prime example of why we cannot do that.

played gears of war?............look at carmine, that's what happens when ya wear a helmet like that, restricts your vision

not to mention I imagine a good soldier uses all his senses to aid in his survival (sight, sound, touch and smell)

You are aware that the US military already has it's own version of this right? They started with "Land Warrior" in early 2000 and have moved on to "FIST". Enjoy! :duff

pretty much...both versions of this tech. look familiar to the Umbrella security forces in Resident Evil: Apocalypse--and you saw how quickly they got put down. call me when we get to the tech. from the Starship Troopers novel.

Yep! Here is the concept uniform.

When I was in a big problem they had was getting the batteries to be lighter. The battery pack on the original design was an extra 40 pounds. :horror That doesn't sound like a lot but add that to the already 100 plus pounds of gear you would have on. Not fun!

yeah and that's only if you are JUST carrying that equipment. i'm sure they'll have more gear like a radio, medical equipment, heavy guns, and food/water. this equipment might be a good idea for a Recon unit or special security forces.

woudnt it be easier to fight naked, all this equipment looks heavy and will slow you down.

Yep, can't see those damn snipers with those helmets on. And, look how well they worked for the carmine brothers.
