LAXVIK display system?

I've been looking at the Besta system for my collectibles, I need something that will let me dust left. Dust is currently winning the war of my collectibles. I don't think this shelving system would help me any. It could make an interesting display though.

I've given up on the war on dust - most everything I have is open. These Laxvik have glass shelves, so they obviously aren't designed as warehouse shelving.

I have some Besta, which are good for PFs, they have adjustable shelves and are plenty deep.

But I want more light around the figures. The Laxvik won't be good for PF though, as I don't think the shelves are adjustable and there's only 18" between them.

PF's are mostly what I was thinking of for the Besta. Can't you put doors on them? Thanks for the pic, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with those. The depth is great.

yes, you can put either opaque or glass doors on the Besta, but they're only available as square - see where the Trek and Hellboy PFs are? Those are the only shelves that I could put doors on without it something sticking out.

Ah, that's disappointing, the doors are part of the reason I liked it so much. The depth is still enough that I'll likely go with them anyway.

I use Elfa shelving similar to this. Its wall mounted and in segments 24" or 30" can be joined to form continuous shelving. So no side walls, poles, etc. I have it on 8' continuous wall. It holds a ^^^^ load of 12" and PF since there are no walls or cracks between segments.

Elfa shelving is 30% off right now at Container Store. I did the 8' a year or 2 ago with 5 rows of shelves of varying depth during the sale for about $500.

Actually I was just at IKEA today, and there seems to be a LOT more options with the BESTA now. They may have different sized doors now. But they did have at least 3 types of doors, closed, glass and sliding.

By coincidence I went to Ikea today as well and ended up going with the Detolf. Dust is my number one nemesis as well, Dave, and even though I'm sure dust will find it's way in there, the fairly enclosed unit will keep dusting to a minimum. I picked up "5" Detolfs (for now).

I built one just to get the hang of it, as well as see how they will look in my hobby room and I'm extremely pleased. Massive re-arranging to follow...

Yeah, deltofs definitely reduce the dust. They don't eliminate it but enough to make dusting bearable.
Don't know it it was this board or another someone replaced the metal frame with threaded bars which allowed for varied spacing between shelves.

I just checked on IKEA online and it looks like they have a unit that is 75" tall and 48" across but I think they're just two units put together as one so even though it would take four doors I'm guess two for each side will cover it.

Did you see the Laxvik in person? What do you think of them?

This is the one in my picture above with the Universal monsters - it's a single unit. The half size is right next to it with Hulk.

I did see the laxvik - It almost does look like industrial shelving, although they have a black and clear glass shelf that you can use. The fact that the shelf heights aren't adjustable is what finally decided me against them. However it's incredibly modular and some very creative things could be done with them. If my collection was just 1/6 figures I think they'd be ideal and look very cool.
