So I just purchased a new 52 inch LCD. It is fantastic looking. Now being the anal retentive douche hole that I am I made the mistake of standing about a foot away and looking for lost pixels. I found one. It is really tiny and you can't even see it on a white screen when sitting around 4 feet back. Should I take the whole thing back and risk getting another one with more out? Also will other pixles around the area be affected? It was on clearence so they may not even have another. It was in the box and brand new though.

Any help or recommendations are welcome. :duff

I should also note that the pixel is redish black and I tried the reactivating techniques that I have found online. As a matter of fact I did fix one pixel this way but this one won't go away.

Most TV's have a certain number of pixels that have to be bad in order to be considered defective under warranty which should be stated on the warranty card. I don't know about CC's return policy for dead pixels though.

Yes through my research I have found these policies. Some of them are down right crazy. So I want to make sure I get a PERFECT set from the store. Even the store optional warranties say they will not replace LCD's that have pixel losses that doesn't affect standard viewing. All very subjective IMO. So I don't want that hassel.

I just called them and they have 1 left. Hope it's ok. I will pick her up tomorrow morning. :rock

:rock Good luck buddy.

Thanks! I didn't know that Pixel issues were still a problem. If you Google it, it seems to be a real problem for lots of people. Also the manufacturers seem to push back on people for complaining about it. I just don't want to fight with them. I am of the belief that if you buy something new it should work perfectly. Hell if it happened over a few years time I wouldn't be upset. It's kinda like buying a brand new car with zero miles or whatever and having a dent in it. It's a nice set though!

I thought this was a problem of early LCD tvs, I didnt know it was still occurring.

Are the circuit cities around you still in business? All of my town's CC's closed a last last weekend, and I cleaned up. I wish they were still here, it was sort of fun going to each one and see what I could find for 50-90% off.

Yep still kicking in my area.

I didn't either. And apparently most factory warranties will not cover anything less than 7 or 8 pixels being out unless it's in the center of the TV. They pretty much tell you to deal with it. That scares me a little. :horror

I game too much for plasma. I also tend to get drunk and fall asleep on my couch while having my TV paused. Not good for plasma. Plus plasma can have pixels just flat burn out over time. So I guess it is more the drunken scenerio that has me after an LCD. :dunno

Plasmas are for hippies and losers. :wave

I think you mean Yuppies and losers. You know the type. They all want to hang it over their fireplaces. LOL! Hippies still can't figure out how to work them nor can they purchase one.

O.K. I have a weird and similar story, about 4 months ago I bought a Toshiba Laptop, got it home and found one pixel burnt out, so I took it back for an exchange. My "replacement" laptop (same brand) has been a living hell, the biggest piece of crap lemon i've ever owned.

I know we are talking about 2 different things but I thought i'd share my computer misery with you.

Hope this helps! :D

Plasmas have almost no issues now with burn in and image retention. I have a plasma and have gamed on it for 6-8 hours before with no problems. And plasmas don't have the problem with ghosting like LCDs do. When I saw COD4 played on my buddies LCD, there were weird images ghosting that I guess lots of LCDs have. Nop way I want that with the fast paced FPSs I play.

Panasonic 1080p Plasma FTW!!!!
