Thanks guys!

Eyelets and the tool. Gotta get the eyelet tool (and a small jewelery hammer... easier to work with than a regular sized when doing fine work)! https://www.volcanoarts.com/cart/eyelets/

The buckles I made myself using floral wire. The circles are jewelery jump-rings from Michael's Crafts. (bead landing brand)

Thank you for the tips. Much appreciated.

Running through these different threads and seeing some amazing work here guys. Keep it going

Thanks again everyone. Here's the latest, albeit a bad image as you can't see the browns in the leather. The armor will fit better than this, but I only have it laying over the shoulders for now as I can't tie it off just yet as I've other stuff to do first like the cowl. Also added the chain maille to the front and back. There will be a little more maille behind the helmet/back of the neck and maybe over the front of the neck too... depends on how it looks when I get there.

You should post a tutorial of how you get the effect on the leather. I would be totally interested in finding out.

Which effect? Just using standard Fiebings leather dyes and Resolene. Also airbrushing the dye on as opposed to swabbing it for better gradients and more even coverage.

Just airbrushing on the dye and Acrylic Resolene (leather sealer). Using a base of Dark Brown, then misting on USMC Black as a shader. For carving, there's all sorts of tools and stamps available, but these are better for larger scale pieces... I'm just penciling on the design as I think of it, wetting the leather slightly, then scribing it in with a needle in a pin vice. Research leather carving and you'll learn a good bit. Then just downscale it to your needs. :)

Thanks for the info. I haven't had much experience with leather...so now I gotta try my hand at it now.

Thanks again! I'm surprised that no one has asked about weapons or gear yet. So far the only gear I've made is a collapsible grappling hook. Bladed weapons (swords, knives, bows, etc...) seem like a no-no... Batman doesn't kill after all and if I keep with the period, boomerangs (bat-arangs) are also out as Australia wasn't discovered until the 1600s and I'm picturing this Bat being pre-Renaissance. So that leaves blunt weapons maybe.

A sling seems like a good choice. Good for diversions, easily concealed. Maybe some sort of blunted flail...? Some of those throwing rope-ball things for tangling legs. Need to google the name. A whip? What if I did a Cat Woman eventually? Staff: Saving that for Robin.

Any thoughts?

A bow with various blunted arrow tips, or a wrist-mounted crossbow.

I'm not sure you should be opposed to swords or even a decorative bat-mace. Bats doesn't kill but he has no issue with seriously maiming.
