I'm all caught up. Interesting to jump the story ahead three years. I usually hate that but it felt almost natural to me. It puts Korra in an interesting place and it's neat to have airbenders as a normal part of the world again.

I really wish there were worthwhile collectibles from these shows. I plan on eventually getting a few from that Mattel line to put next to the plush Appa I have but I haven't had a toy budget in so long.

The story is heating up. Finally. I'm not excited about this season, honestly. It's been slow.

And does anyone feel as that the animation sucks?

Oh hey! A LoK thread! If you guys have any questions, I was a director on that series! Truly one of the best productions I had the chance to work on.

Is studio Mir animating these last few episodes? Feels as if they are and they aren't.

Yup. Its been MiR...well, actually, starting with Book 3, its a combination of studio Mir and Studio Rev. Studio Rev is a smaller start up "Literally" housed in the middle of Mir's studio. The owner of Rev is good friends with Mir..they both started out at studio JM (which animated the original series). If you feel as though the animation is "lacking", its probably due to the number of characters on screen. We pretty much cried when we read the word "army" in the script. An "army" is a storyboard artists/animators worst nightmare.

what's the overall studio feel about the universe of avatar, and is there any plans for more?

i know that book 4 is the end of Korra, but just as korra is a different story than Last Airbender, i'd like to see more new stories about new avatars.

I want to see the avatar in a modern setting. With fully blown and developed science and technology.

That was the first pitch. But that was more because it was toy driven. At the end, I think they made the right choice with Korra. Even if it does mean that no toy company wants to touch that IP.

I'm fine with no toys. :lol

It's sad that the reasoning was more toy driven (monetary). I feel like that scenario brings more issues. It's more curious and interesting to see how something like that would last with all that tech available which could the potentially to nullify the avatar.

Avatar is done-done. As far as I can tell, the creators and Nickelodeon have no plans for further Avatar spin offs.

Just picked up Book 3 on my way home! :yess: I'm just a bit disappointed that it is 1080i like Book Two was and not 1080p like Book One. I'm not sure if Nickelodeon skimped on the extra features as well. I'm almost caught up with Book 4, but I plan on marathoning everything before the finale.

I have to say that after reading Bryan's Tumblr for the clip episode "Remembrances", they have my utmost respect in dealing with such a difficult situation imposed by Nickodeon. It'll be a sad day once this series and universe comes to an end.

I'd say the answer is more complicated than that. The two shows are quite different: A:TLA has a broader scope to it, while A:TLOK is more intimate. A:TLOK is also much more adult than A:TLA.
I would argue that so far, anyway, Book Four is just as good as anything on the previous series, and Book Three was actually better (it was seriously ****ing amazing). The first two books, however, were not as good at all, and Book Two frankly sucked, although there were a couple of great episodes mixed in there.

No, but it is very good and worth watching if you love this Avatar universe

Guess I'll have to give it a try. I loved the first series.

Book one isn't hard to sit through, but Book two kind of is. It's all worth it for Books Three and Four, tho.

I think the latest book is the worse. I liked all three but this current book blows. The production budget was slightly reduced and you could tell.

New Dark Horse comic arc coming next year! I still need to read Rift 2 & 3. I have only seen the first episode from Book 4. Gotta find time to get caught up on it. Nick's streaming service is so awful it's such a chore to try to watch them.

Also, here's our son in one of his Halloween costumes!

Baby Aang looks so adorable!

I would love it if an Avatar direct to video movie happens based on The Promise, The Search, and The Rift. I'm hoping that the original series will get a bluray treatment in the future, but that might be tough.

Aside from making a clip episode, which was ****ing stupid, but understandable given the circumstances, I could not tell, no. And I have not noticed any drop in animation/sound quality. Maybe your internet is too slow.
And you're not into the whole PTSD thing, or the dictator/world agression/Stalinesque thing, the human drama thing, or seeing Toph again, or possibly the funniest Varrick stuff the show has done yet. I'm not sure how someone can prefer Book 2 to Book 4, but I guess there had to be someone. Suit yourself.
Prince Wu sucks immensely; he's supposed to, but I wish he wasn't around at all. I'll give you that...unless you think he's the best part.
