I suppose it was only a matter of time...

LucasArts and TT Games continue to tear apart the Star Wars universe and rebuild it brick-by-brick with LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars.

I am continually amazed by the success of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a stylized cartoon version of the events that take place between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. I know how it's going to end, you see, and all of these colorful new characters will be forgotten by the third movie. Still, it doesn't stop me from watching, and it doesn't stop LucasArts and Traveller's Tales from pumping out a LEGO game based on the series for fans to purchase and enjoy.

The Clone Wars will span both seasons of the animated series, with all of the characters from the show represented in LEGO form, along with some fan-favorites from the saga that haven't appeared in the series. The game will feature an upgraded level builder, new head-to-head combat moves, and new abilities for players to fool around with.

"LucasArts continues to set the bar for next-generation family entertainment," said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts. "The LEGO Star Wars franchise is a massive hit with fans, bringing in sales of over 20 million units worldwide. We're thrilled to extend this experience to LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, delivering the humor and fun players expect from this award winning franchise."

I love the humor and fun of the series, so that's good. I also love the animated look of the cartoon, which could be a problem. It's one thing to make live-action characters into LEGOs, but Star Wars: The Clone Wars already features stylized characters. Wouldn't putting them in LEGO form steal some of their charm?

We'll see come this fall, when LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars comes out on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC, DS, and PSP.

That said, this will still be better than THE FORCE UNLEASED II. :lecture

LEGO games are some of the best games out there. I will get this for sure, but I will wait till price decrease. I still need to pick up Indy II and I can't wait to get the Harry Potter LEGO games.

They are great. I have them all, and will continue to get them. However, I wish they'd go back to the pre-Batman formula. Since then (including INDY II) they seem to be a bit over-designed. These games can be fun without making them too challenging for the kids.

Hmm. I actually like Batman and Indy 1 better than the SW versions not sure exactly why. Kids are pretty darn smart on these games. I wouldn't worry about them not figuring stuff out.

IMO the more varied the character skills are the better. I don't like how many characters can do the same tricks.

For example, in Indy I don't like how a bomb thrower can break glass. I think that skill should be limited to Willie's scream.

So the more special tricks they can think of, then limit those special tricks to certain characters, I like that.

I love how you have to replay levels more than once or twice to get everything.

One thing I do like about SW versions is all the various challenge levels.

I haven't played Lego Indy II (can't get myself to pretty much buy a game I already have again for full price), but Batman was my least favorite out of the rest so far.

I will probably wait for a price drop in this one as well.

Lego Harry Potter >>>>>>>>> Lego Clone Wars

Lego INDY II is entirely different than the first game. Even all of the INDY Trilogy levels (even Bonus Levels) are brand new.

lol when we first started playing LEGO games both my wife and I had dreams of breaking stuff, collecting pieces, putting stuff together...lol

My son recently turned 3 and he just loves Batman, Indy, and SW LEGO games. He is now better at them than me... <sigh>

Amazing watching him play them. I have to admint, they are a lot of fun and enjoy playing them too.

Batman is his favorite. Clone Wars is a no brainer for us! I actually enjoy the cartoon more than Eps 1-3....

Indeed! I love the Lego games. They're fun, simple, and relaxing which is a nice break from some games that just totally make me pay attention.

No kidding. I doubt I would have survived playing Dead Space without SW Lego II as a palate cleanser in between the intensity. :lol

Nice!

This was a no brainer and I'm surprised it took this long to get to.

Can't wait to play as Rex. :banana
