Holy smokes. I’m in for at least two. Lim Toys, I love you…
A Schofield and detonator box. NOICE! And man those hs are so well done.
The sculpt looks a tad too soft... maybe...? Johns face in the first game looks real rough and raddled... You can really see that he's been through a lot.
Also... belt buckle...?
I know... but that custom model just captures Johns likeness perfectly in more "modern" graphics, that's why I included it. That worn out look of his is just what I love about the RDR1 John. You can see what he's been through written all over his face. He's not just some pretty guy. You can see all that dust and hurt burned into his mug. That's the perfect John for me.And in fairness, you comparison on the left there isn't even the in-game model, it's someone else's custom-made model, so it's an interpretation just like LIM's is.
I think in the promotional shots the texture of the sculpts don't come across as well but I really disagree with your opinion, biased I know but that fan model of JM doesn't look like him to me, more like a cosplayer who looks a bit like Hugh Jackman. The sculpt looks a tad too soft... maybe...? And his custom colt SAA too !A Schofield and detonator box. NOICE! And man those hs are so well done.

Keep in mind the original model is really old and low poly and looks more like a cartoon than an actual human we tried to marry his iconic traits with a more lifelike approach instead of making it a 1:1 cartoon render.
Hopefully these pics bellow can change your mind.

We also decided that the main reference and look we were going for would be that of the second game because it's easier to translate into a figure and will work better when standing side by side with the Gunslinger.I think in the promotional shots the texture of the sculpts don't come across as well but I really disagree with your opinion, biased I know but that fan model of JM doesn't look like him to me, more like a cosplayer who looks a bit like Hugh Jackman.

Looks good to me! Definitely my most anticipated figure of recent years. I love the Lim Toys Arthur and RDR2, but RDR1 is still my all-time fav game. Is the back rifle holster included? The outfit there is pretty much his RDR1 look so I'm happy about that but just hope his back rifle holster is included to complete the look.We also decided that the main reference and look we were going for would be that of the second game because it's easier to translate into a figure and will work better when standing side by side with the Gunslinger.
The truth is the vast majority of people who've played the second game have not played the first one, they don't recognize that version of JM, a lot of them think the graphics are dated by now especially the character models, chinese collectors for example hate the classic look.
We also had to consider costs making 2 different weapon rigs, different clothes and so on, I wanted to add more clothing options but the costs of producing figures have raised a lot, each thing we added raised the price and we ended up cutting a lot of stuff, stuff I hope we can sell as an extra pack if there's demand for it.
This is what we are going for, there's pieces that come with the figure that can make it look closer to his younger self or his older self it might not be a 100% recreation of those looks but when making a figure you have to commit to one look and we decided this was the one.

Might not be old school fans cup of tea but we did try to make everyone satisfied knowing that we can never make everyone happy, I hope what's there is enough for most though.
Look at the first promo pic with Arthur, you can see the back rifle holster. Is the back rifle holster included? The outfit there is pretty much his RDR1 look so I'm happy about that but just hope his back rifle holster is included to complete the look.

Of course! In my honest opinion i think they did nail the best of both worlds. The fact they're giving us both looks is amazing and i cant wait for a pre order date. 10/10 figure from what the photos are showing. Just one question and its ok if not. But will it include the classic hat?
