TLOU is the big one for me.

Nathan Drake is a great figure, but I don't have any real connection to the Uncharted series beyond the spirit of adventure and the atmospheric scenes.

Red Dead Arthur was also a great figure, and John looks to be even higher quality, but I have even less connection to that game. My interest is in the western theme itself.

TLOU is where it will all come together: a story and world I found deep attachment to, combined with a 1/6 company who have a genuine passion for the source material.

I've played Uncharted, Red Dead and also the Last of Us games and similar to you I really like Nate (and I wouldn't mind a companion figure for him ) but I never really felt a deeper connection to the character itself. But knowing LIM I couldn't say no to the figure, of course, and he really turned out great! And since he's become a real video game icon by now, he also fits well into my collection.

Red Dead on the other hand... What can I say... I still remember how fascinated I was following John through the first game and how depressed I felt when I reached that ending... That broke my heart. And stuff like that just stays with you. So the Red Dead figures are an absolute must for me.

But for me also The Last of Us is number one on that list. I've always been a huge fan of post-apocalyptic movies, games and shows and TLOU is just so well written, engaging and with all of its themes just generally exactly my cup of tea. Those figures will be moving in with me no matter what!
So, me and my buddies are patiently waiting over here in the meantime:

They very much deserve some worthy companions... and I'm sure LIM will deliver just that when the time comes!

I've tried a few times with the RDR games, watching no commentary playthroughs, but just can't get into them the way I could watching TLOU and TLOU2, which work so well as really engaging movies.

Might be because they are really long and time consuming... but also so absolutely worth it if you dare to dive into that world - at least when you play it yourself. Never watched any playthroughs until just recently (Fallout 1 and 2).

The TLOU games come across as though they were intended primarily to be movies, whereas the RDR games came across very much as the games they are. I also found the voices annoying. At best they reminded me of those 'straight to video' westerns that play on daytime TV, and as such completely unengaging because I couldn't take the characters seriously.

I just opened up a Youtube video that I've played before. It started playing an hour and twenty in, with a stagecoach driver talking to John. I watched about ten seconds and switched it off.

I literally can't stand the voices and dialogue.

Really?!? I always loved the voices... but tastes differ, of course. However it's true that TLOU works way better as a movie.

Every time I've tried it's the same thing. I can't get past the voices and dialogue. They grate on my nerves - I'm still trying to get that coach driver out my head. They also come across as actors pretending to be western characters, as in those 'straight to video' westerns.

I'm fussy with westerns anyway. After the golden age of the '60s and '70s there were very few westerns I could stomach, but since Hell on Wheels they've found their footing again and there have been some quality movies and series.

But I'm a kid of the '80s... my TV watching career only began in the '90s. So that might explain it.
