Well mods are human, though I hold people who want to be in power suspect until further notice.

What I think blows a whaleshark is when they have been on the job a while and play favourites amongst the posters. That really just decreases my respect for them instantly and defeats the purpose of having a rule book.

Humans are some of the worst people.

It helps a lot if the mods are given very specific guidelines to follow. Guidelines that remove grey areas. And then, as long as they can show their actions to be within those guidelines, they are golden.

Mods imo have one main purpose, to get rid of obvious trolls. I really don't mind if two (or more) posters are having it out and are totally insulting each other, it doesn't detract from whatever it is I am going to a forum for and sometimes it is funny and entertaining. They only run the risk of simply being boring twats, in which case I will read around them.

I have had threads shut down because boners were attacking me, but I was handling it just fine without mod interference as I am sure anyone else could handle it... just like they could simply ignore it, which is just something I don't need a mod to help me do, do you?

What is the real difference between if a thread gets locked or just buried as people lose interest?

There could even be a "Boxing Ring" section where if two posters just can't get along they can go there and just wail on each others packages until the cows come home. I know I would go to that section for a fun read once in a while. I think the people who don't get along on forums sometimes would get along fine if they met in person so I don't put alot of stock in an internet word match and I don't think most people do... so when a mod steps in and locks a thread because people are spatting I just think it's wierd, silly, and tiresome.

Also, swearing. I think everyone here knows all the dirty words and people just find other ways to type them anyway. I can't believe I can't type p^n^s here. I never got the logic of blocking cursing when you can go straight from this page to two turds one hole with no problem.

I used to get into fights all the time on this one board because people (mods included) insulted me and teased me (not in a fun way) and I stood up for myself. There are a lot of forums where mods abuse their power...I was eventually banned from that forum for no reason other than the majority didn't like me or the fact that I stuck up for myself.

The admin's excuse was "I couldn't handle you anymore," when all I tried to do was fix things I was doing wrong (going off topic in threads...which everyone did and I didn't see anyone else get banned) and sticking up for myself...Sure, I might have taken things a bit too personally sometimes but I was like 14 or 15 then...and plus it was my first forum and I hadn't grown a tough skin yet...oh the good old days...lol

I have been to a straight up flame forum and it was really boring because there was no point to anything, it was really just a troll whack off session. But if it stems from an actual discussion it is more interesting.

Disputes I can understand its, merging threads for no decent reason and then not having the decency to inform the person who started both the threads why it was done !

It all stems from me posting that 'Auction Networks was ripping off BSG fans with bogus shipping info'

Apparently that board had some type of relationship with them (Wiki info I think) and they bought into the spin when it was discovered info on shipping prices and details had been omitted, withheld

Unavoidable second company costs (oops I own the second company)

TBH I should have avoided that board after that

But being a BSG fan I went back for more

Lesson Learned

This new board has some very amiable and friendly people on it so Im hoping thats my new BSG home
