Caught a scrap from an interview with the actual SEAL and Marky Mark, and the soldier is proud of what is in the movie. Sure, they took some liberties in order to tell a story that works as an entertaining movie, that's always the case, but if it still gets his stamp of approval, that's all I need.
Went to see American Hustle anyway tonight, but this will probably be next.

This, to you, was the funniest scene ever. OK.

Yep.
Do i need to explain it one more time?
I enterred the movie not knowing it was a true story.
Probably gave me a more objective view of the story as a movie.
AS.A.MOVIE.
And yep the never ending crack and boom of the fall felt grotesque.
And i laughed because it was ridiculous.
Does it mean i'm laughing at the Soldiers?
No.
But you seem gung ho on this.
I have the super Power ability to differentiate between a movie and the real story. Crazy huh?
For the real story i rather see a good doc, hearing the real peoples.
I found the movie bad, direction, acting wise.
It did not work on me.
Deal with it :)

Best to chalk it up to hating the subject matter or, more likely, the protagonists. :lecture
Yeah and death to America the great Satan too...
Are you serious? I dont hate the subject nor the protagonists.
I hate the way the movie is done, i hate the exécution.
I would not have taken the Time to see the movie if it was not right up my alley.
Just read and dont try to psych me or turn me into an enemy of the real men behind this story.

Saw this today. Really solid film. One of the better military films I've see in a while and pretty powerful. I'll get this on Blu.

Looks like I made a new friend with 9 simple words. :)

Just got back...

Wow! :(

I don't really think of myself as an overly "political" person. I usually don't jump in and give an opinion because I know there are always so many more factors to an issue that is brought to light by the media. This movie is making me think about the rules of engagement. I totally get why we have them and that their have been serious cases where soldiers are held accountable to them. But to me, it is frustrating that the soldiers have to worry about certain consequences when they are in war and in seriously dangerous situations. The media is always jumping at a story like this and the soldiers in this story where in a really hard place... I guess I don't have a definite opinion but the film sure got me thinking. I know threads can get out of hand over politics and I am not looking to start anything. Just making the point that the film got me thinking and sympathizing with soldiers who are placed in incredibly hard decision making situations.

Sorry but im just baffled that no one can understand what i mean.
And a bit annoyed to repeat myself that im not mocking the men but the depiction of the story.
Something more in the Line of THE HURT LOCKER would have been better than this Hollywood flashy style.
But yeah we can be friend :)

About the rule of engagement,
Well they did the right thing and paid the price.
Now i wonder why they did not take the civilians as prisoners until they were Scott free...

Saw the movie last night; always surreal where I see it, cause every other person is ex-military, so you can feel a different type tension during intense scenes. My cousin had to leave the movie at one point, as it kinda reminded him to much of his time served, but everyone seemed to really appreciate the movie. Everytime a soldier took a bullet or fell, you could hear the gasps in the theater. Thought the cast did a great job of what a real soldier would do, not watching actors make-believe or that kind of thing. Obviously my fav parts were the first opening and closing shots

Yea, I'm going to have to get on the bandwagon of how good this movie was. I read the book and besides 2 points I think, it stuck to how the book went down. Not knocking the guy but I don't know how anyone could find the falls as funny. The theater I was at people, including myself were grimacing. I didn't really see anything over the top about the violence like a previous poster saw. I will own this on Blue Ray when it comes out.

Saw this a few nights ago. I did enjoy it, but what stood out to me was how silent the theater was once the credits started rolling. I half expected everyone to applaud, but you could have heard a pin drop.

Looks like it made some decent coin.

Not something I want to see in the theaters, but will Netflix it.

the most painful thing for me was
the other seal team's reaction aboard the surviving Chinook, after the other went down

i think one of them rushed to the cockpit telling the pilots to "you effin get back in there!"

that was too painful for me.

i wont even consider the action scenes over the top.

Marcus Lutrell was in the movie; he was in a couple of the scenes. Him and another SEAL were there on location, advising heavily more so on that mountain gun fight.
