I'm sure this won't get alot of traffic, I know where Pete's Dragon ranks in general popularity. However I'm throwing it out there anyhow.
I happen to have Ken Andersons personal script from this movie. For those who aren't aware, Ken Anderson designed Elliot and was the Animation Art director for the movie. It is signed at the top and has all kinds of his notations in the script, as well as a bunch of extra pages with Chinese dragon illustrations and dragon legend info.
On the one hand, this is a cool, one of a kind collectible...and really a piece of Disney history. I love that I have it, but (and there's always a "but"$$$$$), there's a part of me that recognizes nobody in my family gives a crap about it, so no one can appreciate it with me. Of course, there's the monetary consideration (and no, I don't think it's worth a fortune). It doesn't display as nice as a cel or a statue, it's just there, with it's bland 1970's color cover and fonts.
I am quite sure though it's not a Lion King cel or something, I wouldn't get what it's worth on ebay. I don't even know what it's worth TBH. If you held a gun to my head, I'd guess between $100 and $200 on the low side. Antique Road Show won't be here this week, so I'm s.o.l.
In the end, I know it's my collection and my opinion, so save those replies. I AM curious if anyone 1) has/ has had a collectible that they....almost felt unworthy of, for lack of a better term 2) Would have a better suggestion on trying to get rid of such a piece or 3) just thoughts in general. Absolutely keep it, meh big deal. Just like the title says, picking yours brains on the matter as Disney fans, and likely in the same age group as myself.
