So where would Gandalf be without Shadowfax, Aragorn without Brego, Sam without Bill, Arwen without that horse she rode? Would you pay a premium for horses for your LotR figures?

Arwen without Asfaloth? :)

I'd love for the horses to be done, and I'd be all over it.

I'd like to see them sold separately. This way it gives the collector the choice to buy them or not...

Just the thought of actually getting a 1/6 LOTR horses is making me...:drool

I'd take a horse either with or without the figure. The best way for SS to handle this would be to make the figures available in both options, with horse and without. This way the figures would be more affordable for some on tighter budgets.

if they made horses I guess they'd be stationary so I'd want them in iconic or memorable poses. not all the same pose but different colouring, they gotta be special if theyre done

Dragon has a couple of new horse figures coming up and they are articulated. I don't think horses necessarily have to be non-articulated.

I would absolutely pay a premium for horses, be it as a package with the rider or sold seperately.

I think the sculpting of the horses that I've seen / have (Shadowfax, Bill, The Ringwraith's Steed) is the most awesome job Weta has done - particularly the work of Brigitte Wuest on Shadowfax (Swiss quality work, hehe :D )

I've voted for a yes option, but if they would make horses, I'm scared to death that they'll look like those horses from the Barbie line....:horror

...ooops, thought we were talking PF figures... Nevermind, I guess the "sculpting" won't be a big issue on the 12" line. :duh

talk about beating a dead horse theres too much LOTR now.

I think you're in the wrong forum, my friend. You may want to visit the Star Wars forum where there's very little releases being announced... ;)

But seriously, the demand is there, so I see no problem with Sideshow providing the supply. I can only envision the horror of seeing Hasbro releasing 12" LOTR figures... :horror

As for the horses, it's a no-brainer. Of course 1/6th horses would be most welcome, as would wargs! :D

Ahhhh, yes. Horses sold separately would be a great option. LOTR horses at an affordable cost. :D

Since I'm a cheapskate, I'm going to purchase 1 of each sex and breed them. If it turns out I got a good horse, I might offer him to board members as a 'stud' and charge accordingly. Given that scenario, I might be able to afford the 1/4 PF line after all =/

Nice thing about Sideshow making horses is that it'd add to a lot of different lines.

I don't have the space though, really. I'd consider getting one horse, but that's it.

Yeah, we need some good 1/6 scale articulated horses! They would have a tremendous crossover appeal for the Civil War, Six Gun Legends, and Planet of the Apes lines as well as others too. I would like them as separate releases from the figures, with full cloth and leather saddles and riding gear. I voted for whatever it takes, whether released with figures or not.

Hi Everyone,

I think the horses would be a nice touch if they add to the figure.
I think they should offer them separate to collectors who only
collect the figure and discounted as a set to other collectors who
desire it that way. I think they should make a background diorama
as well. Like the Stone Wall Environment for the Military Figures and the Furnace
Environment for Freddy. With a good Environment the display possibilities are
endless. You really can's make a nice scene with fixed polystone like you
can with articulated figures and a good back drop environment.

Thanks,
Mike

The horse itself doesn't interest me. It's the context it's displayed with it's character. I don't care for Gandalfax or Aragorn on Brego or Legimarod but the Ringwraith on Steed and Sam & Bill mean something to me. I will say that they all do look nice though.

The Ringwraith is the obvious example for the need for a 1/6th scale horse. But Sideshow can certainly make some money here by designing "one" horse and simply painting him differently in order to represent the Nazgul steed, Brego, Shadowfax, Arod, etc...

if Sideshow went the articulated route, then they could get a more unique and true to movie look less work/money for each animal. they could start with a 'generic' horse not unlike Dragon's Blitz with the bridle sculpted on the head. then by sculpting new heads and new legs from the knee down, you could create each 'iconic' horse.
