With HD, you really find a new appreciation to how much work went into making the movie from an art/costumes/set vantage point
I am a fool and have bought EVERY SINGLE LOTR DVD that has been put out....I just had to have them all and they do have different special features, so it made it worth it for me. So ofcourse, I will also be buying these when they come out. My tv only goes up to 1080i, but I've been able to tell a big difference from the 480 (or whatever it was before I got the HD-DVD player and my PS3.) Someday I'll upgrade my tv to a 1080p...but for now I am content.
I am hoping for a X-Mas '08 announcement of LotR on Blu-ray.
It'll be awesome.

I don't want to wait that long.
Glad to know there's not a huge difference between 1080i and 1080p. My tv is fairly small I think around 42"....I plan on one day moving it to the bedroom and getting a bigger one for the living room. The only thing I hate about my tv is it only has one HDMI slot, so I have to switch it out when I'm changing between my PS3 and HD-DVD player.
Here ya go Jen. What you need is an HDMI switch. It allows you to run multiple HDMI sources into the switch, then one HDMI out to your tv from the switch. Here's a decently priced one. Just google "HDMI switch" for more:

Word to that ****.Give me this and the Star Wars saga on Blu, and I can die young and happy.
the guys at https://www.gizmodo, if you want to check out that site and do a search ,also review a bunch of hdmi switches that are reasonably prices. My tv also only has 1 hdmi, but I don't have a ps3, so I don't even use it
you're fine with 1080i Jen. guessing the size of your tv and the size of the room/viewing distance that you now have, you wouldn't note a difference between 1080i and p.
Yeah, you probably wouldn't notice the jiggery lines when watching a 1080i picture.
I've gotten so used to watching a progressive picture just in the last few months with an HDTV, when I switched it to a 1080i signal, I couldn't stand seeing the scan lines crawl across the screen.
