Rook
Super Freak
I already posted these over at Shadow & Flame. Thought i'd bring it over here as well. Enjoy
This piece is exactly the kind of iconic representation I hoped it would be.
I've heard a lot of talk about the shiny nature of the face, but I disagree with those who find fault with it. The guy just finished running and flipping his ass off in a swamp with a giant frog strapped to his back! He's gonna sweat. Let him shine!
The sculpture is just about perfect, overall. I do admit that he's not quite Luke-like in quite a few of the angles I shot, but when he's on, he's on. (See the first pic.) You can see in Luke's face the concentration, the confusion, and maybe a little of the wonder of someone who's slowly learning the secrets of the universe from a 900-year-old wizard. His pose is one of weary resolve, pride and uncertainty juxtaposed against a tree root.
Yoda's look is one of patient serenity. I find the homophobic accusations of those who find this piece homoerotic to be not only unfounded but a little bit petty. There's affection in Yoda's face, certainly, but nothing more. (I'm not imploring the jokes to stop, mind you. The comments really are quite funny, if inaccurate.) Here we see the wizened Jedi Master who for centuries joyfully trained youngling Padawans, only to have them ripped brutally, violently from him, now finally doing that which he was born to do. He has purpose once again, and he loves it.
This is a very proud statue. It is certainly the closest to my heart when it comes to my Star Wars collectibles.
Skywalker
I know, I know. Some pics were already posted in the "15-20 Notice" thread. I just had issue with posting pics in a thread whose purpose wasn't the posting of pics.
