The HT head will fit on the sideshow body with no problems. Did a swap when I first got them.

I actually like the HT hair better and as a result, the entire HT sculpt better. The SSC hair to me just looks kind of soft and not as detailed.
The hair color on both still just looks way too dark to me. And I think just lightening it up would improve the likenesses considerably.
Agreed. I've thought about picking up one of those HT Luke sculpts from ebay just so I can display him without the helmet, from time to time. I may just do that.

I didn't really like this X-Wing Luke, or the recently-released Snowspeeder Luke for that matter, so I decided to make my own custom version instead.
Recipe: Slim muscular body, Hasbro flight suit, DiD boots, Sideshow Red Five helmet, modified KO Farmboy Luke sculpt, Hot Toys ANH Vader gloves, HT Lightsaber, custom leather belt & holster by Gustavo Ponce & HT DX07 blaster. Weathering and head-mod (to fit the helmet) by me.

Not bad. Though it's the DX07 I believe you are referring to not the DX05 Indiana Jones "blaster".

This is what we need from Hot Toys, and then a quick couple of mods for a Hot Toys OT Snowspeeder and X-Wing version. With an awesome unhelmeted head sculpt.
Well, being front and center in a Star Wars movie ain't a factor that will guarantee HT make a figure of that character. At least, Poe having a second chance, and possibly a third in 2019 make that scenario a lot more plausible.

I wouldn't doubt that was why he didn't get a figure for TFA though. Rey and Finn were shown more than Poe in the trailers. His chances seem better for TLJ. He's proved to be popular amongst fans.
