Bump this up since it officially releases tonight.

Last years Madden sucked...but we have a new team working on this years version and it sounds much improved.

I enjoyed the demo and from what I have seen between the demo, online videos and thoughts from Madden gamers online is that this is the best Madden in awhile. I love the complete overhaul of the game and that the speed has been slowed down to a realistic level. The ratings have been overhauled as well. The passing seems to be much better where you can throw much better fade routes and touch passes. There are actually pockets for the QB to sit in and scan the field. Watching video replays is almost like watching real highlights due to the improved animations, etc.

I will be picking this up for the PS3 tomorrow.

Played the demo and deleted it as soon as I was done. Looks sharper, but is still the same game. I still don't understand why they can't get the arms to look natural in running animations and why they carry the ball on their wrists still.

Its a pretty good game,I wouldnt say its good enough to put down $60 bucks for it though, because its still pretty much the same as 09.

agreed. I didn't notice that much of a difference. Also, let be honest...this game will probably be $20-30 bucks 2 months from now. Seems to happen to all sports games.

probably right before madden '11 is released. i dont want to start arguments but what is so special about this game that merits an annual release?? can't they just do it every other year like call of duty and have downloadable roster updates??? seriously, i played '08 and '09 and there was no difference that i could tell other than the rosters being updated.

Call of Duty is every year now:lecture

I wonder how long it would take to get though?
I would say the regular 6-8 weeks bs but hey its still free if you wanted to get SI. Hell if your on the fence for either its still killer deal. They say none will ship before Aug 14th on site thats it.

not really. Treyarch and Infinity Ward are two developers working on different games....like Madden and NCAA. they have it staggered so a different call of duty game is released every year-- Modern Warfare and World at War.
Call of Duty is on the box of both and they come out each year so sorry they come out every year. Just becuse its not the same every year doesnt mean it doesnt come out every year it just means they put out a different version of Call of Duty every year but still a Call of Duty game every year.

A new development team is doing Madden this year so things are changing for the better as the last few years were terrible. They improved the gameplay, added new technology in the Pro-Tak and also got online franchise mode in this year. There is room for improvement but the new development team already is going in the right direction to me.

The only thing that Madden had going for it the last few years is the exclusive NFL license but with no competition the franchise was getting stagnant.

Caved and bought it when I said I wouldn't. Played seven games online and I am 5-2; one game I got beat and the other game I gave away. I lost 21-6, but 14 points came on two picks I threw taken to the house by Champ Bailey and Brian Dawkins. I held my opponent to 71 TOTAL YARDS (while i had 191 total yards) and lost because of those two picks. The last TD he scored late after I needed an onside kick. I had closed to 14-6 on a field goal, and had to get an onside kick. Anyways, a few thoughts:

1) The instant replay disconnect glitch still lives apparently. Would have thought EA would have fixed it by now. I was playing online, and my opponent fumbled on his side of the field in the last two minutes. I got the ball, but of course, the booth reviewed the fumble. Either I or my opponent hit X to cancel the replay animation, and the call came that the "play stands" but then I got the disconnect message.

2) I DO NOT LIKE THE ACCELERATED CLOCK. I don't like the fact that I am essentially penalized for calling my offensive play early. I like to be able to read the defense and either call an audible or adjust my receivers' routes accordingly. The accelerated clock leaves me with less time to do this.

3) I DO NOT LIKE THE NEW PLAY CALLING MENU. You can only see three plays at at time, unlike last year. I believe you could have either four or six plays on the menu last year. Also, when you changed your personnel package last year, the playbook showed where each receiver lined up by number. This year, you cannot see where the receiver is unless you change your personnel package in the formation screen.

4) I am undecided about the fight for the fumble option. It's an interesting idea, and it makes sense when a ball is fumbled in traffic, but on my other loss, I stripped Brian Westbrook in the right flat with a cornerback, a safety, a defensive end and a linebacker in the vicinity. My opponent only had Westbrook and a offensive lineman. The fight for the fumble ensued, and I ended up getting the football, but it didn't help me out. I was down 21-14 with under a minute left, and my opponent had just recovered an onside kick. Instead of running the clock out, he attempted to score again. Now with that much defensive personnel near the ball, one of my defensive players SHOULD have been able to pick up the rock and run it back for a defensive TD; my opponent had called one of those misdirection slip screens with all the other offensive personnel on the opposite side of the field. Had I been able to get the fumble, I would have just had to outrun the o-lineman and McNabb.

:lol Just sour grapes on my part, I guess. I'm sure this fight for the fumble thing will benefit me in the future.

Overall, if you're a die hard Madden fan, you should enjoy it.
