Re: The Man of Steel

What's she looking at?!?! :horror

Oh the "S", never mind.

Re: The Man of Steel

Are the color tones muted like that in the film? It looks odd.

Re: The Man of Steel

Damn, been avoiding these trailers like the plague, now I've seen trailer 3. Jesus this needs to be out now.

Alot of the scenes have the lighting effect like was used in Watchmen. In fact, alot of the "feel" of the movies sets give me that feel that the Watchmen did. The new trailer blew me away.

Re: The Man of Steel

So does the new trailer have a ton of spoilers in it? I haven't watched it yet fearing it would. :lol

How would we know if it's a spoiler if we haven't seen the movie. :lol

Then again, your question brings to mind the Dredd trailer which showed the death of the main baddie.

:lol

Not sure, but....

...doesn't the new trailer show ZOD already shackled up? When he screams "I WILL find him!" and we see the other Kryptonian villains, isn't he too already handcuffed?

He's being locked up at the beginning of the film I imagine. Him and his crew ultimate badasses are probably 'terrorists' or some such causing the explosion at the beginning of the trailer. Zod takes it personally and vows to find the son of Jor El wherever he sends him in the universe.

:dunno

Re: The Man of Steel

While this movie looks like it will finally deliver the goods in the kinetic energy department, Superman finally behaving and moving like Superman should, just look at his flying closeups with the blur behind him and also his quick movement away from military airplane fire as proof.

Gorgeous stuff.

Add that to what hopefully is a good story and acting, it looks like a recipe for success.

But i'm having a hard time viewing this movie as anything more than just a flashy remake of Superman 1/2, with updated effects allowing for bigger and faster destructive battles with prettier laser effects.

The villain is Zod, again.

Yeah Superman Returns might be viewed as the one with the closer connection to the original, but that was more of a homage than anything else, a real bore to sit thru is what it truly was.

MOS more than likely won't be boring that's for certain, but where Marvel cinematic universe is quickly expanding into Falcon, Guardians, Asgardians, Racoons with Rockets, Winter Soldier, Mandarin, Thanos and beyond territories, WB is giving us Superman vs Zod, again, albeit with a more realistic tone, flashier, faster and bigger.

Will this be enough.

Re: The Man of Steel

Zod again? Over 30 years later? Again? It's fine to have it be Zod again. A better statement would be Lex AGAIN.

And it starts it up better than having some huge Super Villain right off the bat. Since they're retelling the origin again, having a kryptonian as a baddie just works.

Re: The Man of Steel

Hope they don't **** it up and have Lex as the main villain in the sequel. That needs to be their Dark Knight. It always annoyed me that they had Mickey Rourke's lame Whiplash in Iron Man 2. Bring in Doomsday or Darkseid. That would be sweet....

Brainiac is of Kryptonian origin (in some stories). I don't like the Zod idea for a first movie because any schmoe from Krypton has super powers.

And Spider-Man is expanding into Rhino, Electro and introducing Goblin & X-Men is expanding into Time-Travel

True, Fox/Sony seems more enthused than WB at expanding their universe, harder to do though with license ownership keeping hands tied at the studios.

I was thinking of Marvel Phase One and Phase Two, the sheer amount of characters they have given us up on the big screen and the ones soon to arrive:

Stark
Iron Man
Banner
Hulk
Rogers
Captain America
Thor
Black Widow
Hawkeye
Loki
Fury
Hill
Stane
Monger
Thunderbolt Ross
Betty
Rhodey
War Machine
Red Skull
Abomination
Zola
Peggy
Erskine
Bucky
Blonsky
Odin
Foster
Volstagg
Hogun
Fandral
Sif
Frost Giants
Whiplash
Destroyer
Chitauri
Potts
Rescue
Mandarin
Hogan
Leader
DumDum
Malekith
Heimdall
Falcon
Winter Soldier
Draxx
Star-Lord
Gamora
Groot
Yondu
Rocket Racoon
Pym
Antman
Thanos

Who did I miss. :lol

Re: The Man of Steel

I do not mind them starting with Zod tbh, I was afraid it was going to be another Lex rehash. I am definitely feeling Snyder's vibe and hope this movie is great. Its time for them to start building their universe. Looking at how the Watchmen was handled, I'd love to see how they are going to handle the likes of Superman alongside Batman. The downside they are going to have is that Batman is a major pull, you can't just highlight him in one scene tied to a chair having him beat up nobodies or use him for 3/4 of a movie as a mind controlled puppet. It will be very interesting to see how they tread with this or if they just give up on trying to tie their universe together.
