Was wondering if someone could shed some light on something I've wondered for quite a while now -_The difference between whether something is labelled and marketed as a "maquette", "statue" or "figure".

When I first started collecting, from what I saw, I thought size/scale determined if it was a maquette, however more and more recently I'm seeing smaller pieces labelled maquettes. One thing recently I think it was the Aragorn statue, and it was called a "maquette-style study". Then there's _the PF "figures" but they have no articulation._

I've Wikied the definitions but no clear answers as to how the terms apply to collectibles of this nature._Thoughts?

Also, how much of the production is done by the actual sideshow team? I see all the products are made in China. Is it just the design and development done by Sideshow in the US? I thought the paint apps would have to be done by the artists there too?

Cheers :)_

maquette is a movie based statue and fully sculpted unlike a PF.

Oh I know what makes a PF a PF, I'm just wondering how they determine whether something is going to be called a maquette or a statue. For example the Buffy piece in the new Buffy line was called a maquette but the Willow, Spike etc complimentary pieces are called statues. Just think it's weird :p
