I felt that Marcus was a really unique addition to the terminator franchise.. I wondered does he feel real pain? and if so why? why would skynet program him to feel pain? Not to mention, did he have super strength? or was his abilities only mortal?

So that he would be a more realistic as a human/infiltrator.

yes he did feel pain. it was stated by kate that marcus had a hybrid cortex and partial nervous system. his cybernetics were also programmed to sense pain in an effort to convince HIM that we was a human. ie any scene where he's shot he emotes a pain response, yells, grimace, etc. especially when barnes uses him for target practice or when he cuts his arm fixing the jeep with star. however he was way stronger and faster. he picked up and tossed the t-800 like a toy. it barley scratched it but he was able to lift it off the ground significantly. also when he caught blaire when she was cutting out of her chute on the high tension tower. way too fast and strong to make a catch like that one handed.

Wouldn't his Termi-vision be a bit of a give-away or was he just programmed with a mental block against copping on to that fact? Or am I mistaken does he just have normal human vision?

He visibly showed that he felt pain, and he was just as strong as any of the Terminators, he showed that when
he battled the T-600 and T-800
.

He must have normal vision because it certainly would have been a giveaway otherwise.

he had termi vision sort of.
ie skynet's playback of connor's face to face.
however his organic brain wouldn't be able to process that type of data. it would just see images as normal while the
skynet implants
recorded and interpreted the termi vison stuff without him being aware of it.

i just hope they stick a pump and battery in his chest so he can come back for 5. i really liked the character.

Technically, the T-800 Model 101 perceived pain too, but I don't think it's in the same way as Marcus. In T2 John asks about it while Sarah is removing bullets from Arnie's back.

:lecture correct. "i sense injury, the data could be called pain" i wonder what that would be like? marcus obviously FELT pain. the t-101, i dunno how you would describe it's statement on a technological or physiological standpoint.

I have a quick question.

If it's been answered somewhere else, I apologize.

Why, when Reese tackled Marcus to keep him from getting shot up by the T600, did he not break most of the bones in his shoulder?

I mean, Marcus IS a Terminator and made of metal.

The movie had tons of plot holes like that. Which is the BIGGEST reason I didn't like it. It looked really good and had some great ideas and I really wanted to like it. But it's execution and delivery of these ideas was too poor to. This film deserves to fail because McG thought we were too dumb to pay attention to what HE THOUGHT where subtle details. And it's really sad because this film had some really good ideas and so much to offer. If it were only given more time and thought it could have been a really great.

god, i'm becoming the douche know-it-all :lol

physics, marcus is not fixed to the ground and has give. he also was probably off balance as is. kyle also might have tackled him with his arms out to an extent ( happened too fast for me to see) which would also act as shock absorbers. also given his unique nature, his endo might have been lighter metal like titanium or some sort of aluminum alloy.

i'm basing this on punching someone in the mouth. i learned this form my VERY experienced sensei. if the punchee's head isn't immobile, teeth most likely won't come out because the neck will flex with the impact and turn he head as force is transferred form fist to face. if the poor guy's (or girl, i'm all for equal opportunity :lol)head is fixed, agains a wall or pinned to the ground. something has to give when impact is made. teeth and proabably skin and knuckle bones of puncher.

It doesn't matter if Marcus is made out of metal but rather the weight of that metal. Since Marcus is covered with flesh and clothes, the impact on Kyle is lessened. Also, because Marcus is not physically large or solidly attached to something, Kyle's weight and momentum are enough to push Marcus. Taking a look at the older Terminator models, I'd say (if they're made of a steel alloy) that Marcus weighs approximately 300 pounds.

my physics is rusty, but it's force= mass X acceleration. To compensate for Kyle's lighter mass against Marcus' mass, Kyle would have to generate more force by running fairly fast before impact. Because Marcus isn't attached or stuck onto the ground, he should be able to be moved without Kyle hurting himself.

what he said.....

Terminator Salvation has wonky physics, but I don't think that scene (with Kyle and Marcus) is impossible.

The scenes with the T-800 against John maybe.

ok seriously? are we to the point of trying to justify "physics" in terminator movies?
in that case, i call shenanigans on time travel.

Actually, I think Cameron did a good job keeping the physics fairly representative of real life when he made T1 and T2. To my eyes, at least.

The funny thing is that in Terminator Salvation a person can be squarely punched by a Terminator and still be able to get up afterword. hmmmm....

Time travel is something else entirely and it hurts my head to think about it. :lol
