The thread title isn't true. They aren't relaunching everything. Also, this isn't a continuity reboot or anything. Just new teams on new books and some title swaps and costume changes.

Maybe they can get Magneto right, like he was in the 90's. Loved the Fatal Attractions storyline. I still have several of the hologram comic covers put up.

The reboot worked for Aquaman, many of the Batman titles and I like JLA so far so why can't it work for some of Marvels titles as well. I will reserve judgement until I have the chance to read them.

So is this happening after A vs X with the Phoenix Five re-writting history?
All I can say is with the success of their movies why the F are they messing with the 616? The last decade of cross overs has made for a really awesome read where it felt like things mattered. Ever since Avengers disassembled the marvel universe has been on a roller coaster and I loved it.
This IMO is stupid. Glad I subscribe to marvel digital online were I can keep reading everything I missed out on and not having to support this. Jean is dead and she should stay dead.

doesn't Marvel realize that simply getting back to good story telling is enough?

Thor with swords? The silver on Nova helmet just looks weird. Not sure if I like the new looks but just hope they have good storylines to come.

Aquaman?..... haha. And to save you time no have not nor will I read it. Its aquaman for christ sake. Gay green lantern for the win!!!!

I believe that's what DC said as well. :lol

The strange thing is that the Ultimates universe was invented to reboot the Marvel U without touching the established 616 universe. It then got completely fubar'd and itself had to be relaunched but they took from the original UU a lot of what we see in the film verse. From what I've read the film verse will be a lot of what drives the characters changes trying to meld those things into the standard universe (Nick Fury Jr anyone?) so essentially the movement they began to avoid messing with the continuity and the history of the Marvel Universe has come full circle and changing 616 anyway.

Not to mention that Marvel has tried this before and failed miserably. Ironically with most of the team that is spearheading the DCU's New 52.

When you have time traveling and changing events (Flashpoint?) especially one that is going to literally bring Jean from the past to the present you're going to get history changes. If they pull her out of 1963 for example then everything including The Dark Phoenix Saga, etc beyond that never occurs. Which means that all of the mutants would be affected from the ripple effects of removing her from standard continuities. I guarantee you that's not the only strange change that allows for retooling the character's histories without calling it a reboot.

This doesn't sound like a complete relaunch just a post event set I new titles and banners at the top of the cover ie shattered heroes or the heroic age

Hulk's armor looks just terrible. I work at a comic book store so this should be an interesting topic tomorrow. We'll see how this goes.

Ughhhhh........you know I really do like the new 52 success. I feel they put alot of effort and planning into it and deserve the sales they have been receiving. But with this, I feel it's a lazy way to: A. Incorporate movie elements into the comics (Just look at Capt's costume) and B. Catch back up to DC. Thing is I don't think people will fall for it.

Man I want a part time job at a comic shop BAD just so i could be around and talk Marvel and other things all shift long
:hi5:

Wow, really?

I, for one, really like what's happening with the DCnU right now, and honestly, the creative teams are the ones that are appealing to me. (Snyder, Daniel, Lee, Johns, etc..) DC right now has some of the best artists and writers out there.

For Marvel, they do have the likes of Adi Granov, Deodato, Loeb, etc..

Will be interested to know the creative teams behind this "relaunch."

Just like The New 52 is driven by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee, this one is driven by Bendis. He is their go-to guy.

Like what most people who reads comic books already mentioned, this is nowhere close to what DC has done. Continuity/history will be intact but just renumbering the books that will eventually go back to the way it was.
