Finally finished it and it was a real chore to do so. The ending with Joy is rubbish and makes no sense at all with how the character was portrayed throughout the series. She should be able to just go back to Rand and work alongside Ward again as they had done before.

Best part of the finale was Hogarth, she is a fun character.

I hope we get as little of Danny as possible for The Defenders and I doubt we will see a second season of this. I agree with others in having a Luke and Iron Fist series amalgamated into one because I don't think either really need solo shows again. The best supporting casts were from DD and JJ, so continuing with those shows will be fine after The Defenders.

While I was sorely disappointed with this series, I think it can still be turned around. Given the negative reception and criticisms I think they will fire the show runner and writers and retool the character. It's unfortunate that the Defenders was already shot before the series was released because some of the same problems may go forward.

The #1 thing Marvel/Netflix can do is get him into his costume as quickly as possible. I hope the Defenders solution isn't to put him a green hoodie. The comic-inspired costume will not only win back some of the fans, but make it much easier to bring in a highly skilled stunt double for much better choreographed fighting sequences.

They also need to give Jones a shave and a haircut. I'm not sure who decided to keep that look throughout but it doesn't help. The beard was fine for the first couple of episodes and made sense for a barefoot hippie, but I kept wondering when they were going to get him in with a stylist. They need to harden up Danny. Someone has already mentioned muscle tone, which I think should be emphasized over the kung fu training at this point. A few more months of training is not going to make him a Kung Fu master. He's an actor and his job is to create the illusion. If they get Jones to put on maybe 15 pounds of muscle and get his body ripped, cut his hair, shave off the beard and adjust his makeup, he will come across as less whiny and more mature. By adding the costume, the actor can focus on looking convincing in the close-ups and the stunt double can be the bad *** fighter. Imagine what they could do with someone like Ray Park doing the martial arts. Seeing Jones handle the nunchakas for a few seconds was groan inducing. With the costume they can amp up the weapons fighting to Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon level.

Since they've already cast Davos the character should NOT be Steel Serpent. Davos can still be a villain, but they need a Steel Serpent that looks the part.

Another idea would be to add Shang-Chi. That would bring in a strong Asian character to help train Danny and who conceivably could spin off to his own series similar to the Punisher.

Finally they need to bring K'un Lun, dragons and mysticism to the forefront and put the Meachums and side stories on the back burner.

Those of you who who had mentioned Daredevil kicking Iron Fist's *** I assume are basing this on the fight choreography of the two shows versus the in-story results? Because, if we're just basing it on what happens in the story, I don't remember Danny losing a single fight, where Matt Murdoch was continually getting his *** kicked by almost everyone. But if you're just talking about which fights looked better on the screen, then I completely agree with you, the Daredevil fight scenes looked much better. I also prefer the Daredevil show as a whole, but I just wanted to make the point that I think within the context of the two stories, Danny has been a more successful fighter, even if the Iron Fist showrunners didn't effectively convey that on the screen.

Great point. If anyone has time, rewatch the hallway fight Daredevil has against the Russian kidnappers in the end of episode 2, season 1, and the stairwell fight he has against the Dogs of Hell in the end of episode 3, season 2. Fantastic set pieces with some clever editing to make it seem like the scene is one continuous shot. But the "beauty" of both scenes is the brutality of the fight. Some great choreography, and Daredevil gets by with rage. I don't recall Danny ever "losing" control in any of his fights. I hope in the future Iron Fist's skills are showcased in a set piece where the fluidity and graceful, balletic movements come to the forefront.

Yeah, that's one of the things that I really appreciated about the Daredevil hallway fight from season one, was as awesome as the fight itself was, Matt appropriately looked like he had just gone through a gauntlet of fighters. All of the bruises and lacerations helped drive home the idea that while he had heightened senses, he was still very much, mortal.

Amazing BvS gets hated on and people defend it get call Fan boys this show get an even worse ratting and people are up in arms punch of hypocrites.

I agree with your points about the fight scenes, but as a martial arts master, Danny's fights take waaay to long. That fight in the truck was to clunky and he looked awkward. Martial arts self defense teaches you to put an enemy down as fast as possible. I know it's an entertainment show, but he's not an efficient martial artist he's to flowery.

Finally wrapped it up this evening. On par with JJ, it's fairly average at best. Story was ok, acting decent enough but I'd agree about the fight scenes looking awkward. Need to tighten it up.....

On par with JJ? I found JJ to be head and shoulders above this series. Honestly JJ was the most enjoyable series for me followed closely by DD and then Luke Cage. Iron Fist is well and truly in last place, it was a real chore to finish for me.

I'm actually liking it too - I'm episode 8ish. Of the bunch, DD is #1, JJ #2, IF (at the moment is #3) and LC a distant #4.

Four episodes in. Pretty cool, I like it more than JJ.
A good mix of serious and camp.

Finished IF last night. While not perfect, it wasn't the train wreck that it was made out to be. I liked it.

Some random thoughts, for those that care:

-The highlight for me was Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing. The only thing I had seen her in previously was GOT where she had a small role as Nymeria Sand (I didn't even realize she was an X-Wing pilot in TFA until recently). I hope her role in IF leads her to bigger and better things. She can definitely act, and can do physical roles well.

-I like Finn Jones, and will give him the benefit of the doubt. I know a lot of people thought he was miscast, and was a whiny cry baby, but honestly, was that Jones' fault, or was that was he had to work with? Which leads me to the biggest culprit...

-Show runner Scott Buck. The buck should stop with him, so to speak. Pretty much everyone thinks Dexter's last few seasons sucked because of him. Not sure if he's entirely to blame, but yes, the writing and pacing was uneven.

-Through the whole series, Gao and Bakuto were talking about the need for Danny to reach his full potential as Iron Fist. Hopefully, in the future (whether it be in the Defenders or the second season of Iron Fist, should the series get another one), Danny gets whatever training he needs to unlock his full potential. I liken Matt Murdock/Daredevil to being at the height of his powers, while Danny is still new to his.

-The Meachums, specifically Harold, were not a worthy villain for Danny. I mean, by the end of episode one of Daredevil, you knew he was going to have to go up against the Russian mob, the Triads (more on that), the Hand, and the Kingpin. The Hand seemed pretty much neutered in Iron Fist compared to Daredevil.

-I thought Madame Gao led the Chinese Triads, and was not part of the Hand? I stopped reading comics in the late 90's, but unless I mistaken (or they retconned it), the Hand was a Japanese organization. Also, Madame Gao was able to "force push" Danny away in the challenge episode but never used her "powers" again?

Again, I liked the series overall. I would like to see a second season.

I don't think you have to assume if you've seen both. :lol

Fight this Iron Fist and all he'll do is flowery hand movements and wide throws. Daredevil would say something to hurt his feelings, then take him down hard while Danny tries not to cry.
