you know i hate placing blame cuz if i miss an order it's my own damn fault, but if these were very limited cuz they gave them out at the con then why the hell didn't they give them a 1 piece buying limit? matty failed on this one.

No you have a point. They limited Beastman and He-Man to 2 per at the con. I assumed that they had done a large run of Fakers in consideration of the the cons and online sale.
The sales have been as good as they can possibly be for Mattel. They need to start making it more accessible. When people are begging you to let them pay $20 a figure, just make more!:lol

I am really disappointed. I have been up to date on this line up until Stratos but I missed out on him and Faker today. I was able to snag Skeletor and He-Man and I guess they are the main characters I want until Hordak, She-Ra and King HISS come out but I really wanted a complete set of this line.
Hopefully they will re-release these figures in the next year or so but I thought I had heard that the idea was Mattel was going to make enough of these figures so every collector that wants one will be able to get them. If they are selling out in a week, or heck a day, that just doesn't seem to be the case. I still remain a loyal fan.

I just hope that Mattel learns from what Hasbro did to the 25th GI Joe line and not have multiple runs of the same figure. I personally think that when they did that, they over killed the line.

I agree 100% on the GIJoe line. Hasbro is really killing the line IMO.

Having the regular releases at a 10 piece limit is just as ridiculous.

Do you think Stratos would still sell out in 4 days if their was a 4 or even 2 piece limit on him?

The 4 piece limit was too high for Faker. I could see a limit of 2 in case someone is a loose and MOC collector but anything over 2 is just helping the scalpers.

The limit on King Greyskull though I believe was higher than 4 so at least Mattel did lower the piece limit a little.

I know this doesn't make it right...:monkey3

....but please remember that the whole "collector market" is new territory for Mattel. They're still learning as they go and they admit that. Just look how bad the distribution and QC of the DCUC line was last year. They don't have as much experience with the "collector market" as Hasbro does with their Star Wars, Transformers, and GIJoe lines.

Mattel is known for really one thing....Barbie. :lol They don't know how to successfully run a "collector" or for that matter "boys" line of toys. MOTU was their most successful boys line ever and that was over 20 years ago.

It sucks that these sold out so quickly and those that wanted him weren't able to get one. Im just happy to have gotten the two main characters, He-man and Skeletor. Now I am just waiting for Battlecat and Panthor and I will be set. I missed out on beastman, stratos and now faker. But I think its for the best though since there are a lot of hot toys figures that I preordered that I still need to pay. Too many great figures coming out this year.

i hope they do a battlecat and panthor.

they are! Mattel already said Battle cat early 2010 and will be an extra bonus figure to order that month. Then Panthor will be a Re-paint/Decor using battle cats sculpt

I can't believe how fast this sold out. It must be because of the con sales. I actually traded all of mine that I bought at NYCC because I knew I could pick up another today. Glad I remembered!

yeah thanks for the trade! If it weren't for me trading you my extra skeletor for faker, I would now be off to the bay for Faker because I definitely would have missed the 2 hour ordering window :horror damn scalpers :banghead

i missed out on stratos and then got him off ebay for 32 dollars thats including shipping so i think we just got to be patient and i think that peope are wrong getting them just to make money

Luckily I ordered Faker before I got home from work, so I was able to get hold of him. I'm glad I thought ahead this time or I would have missed out.

seriously, some of you should network better with other boardies if you can't be online at 9am. If i didn't have a computer by me, u better betcha that i would be hitting up some fellow cool boardies for help. You probably have a better chance of getting this online then at retail. Just imagine the chaos it would be if these were at target or TRU. I would hate that because it sucked having to race for Joes and wasting tons of gas..

I would have no problem if they were released in TRU since I work there. :D

But Im guessing Im gonna have to search ebay to get faker which is gonna suck cause he might end up going for a little bit more since he was a con exclusive.

So seems like He-Man and Skeletor WILL be re-issued this fall,
so anybody that missed them will be able to get one!

We will also look at brining back some of the early figures again once we judge sales on the reissues of He-Man and Skeletor this fall.

So everyone is in the loop, the point of reissuing Skeletor and He-Man is not for completists who want to own "every" version, but rather for fans who either missed out on these key figure, or new fans who will want them to start a collection.

Obviously there will be some fans who want to own every version even if it is just a package change saying "second release" (no it will be cooler than that...), but these particular reissues aren't intended to be "must haves" but rather just our way of keeping key characters out there.

We did make minor paint (red around the eyes on He-Man) and joint (corrected the shoulders on He-Man and tightened the grip on Skeletor so he can hold his Havok staff a bit better on Skeletor) adjustments improving things where we could, but the reissues are not meant to replace the original releases in anyone's collection.

If you have the original released hopefully you are satisfied (although feel free to buy 100 more each! Give them out for Halloween or Arbor Day!) and we didn't intend for these re-releases to be bought by everyone who already owns He-Man and Skeletor, mostly new-bees.

i didnt think he'd sell out so fast. the quickest any of these has sold out was about a week. i just assumed Faker would be available at least through the afternoon when i'd have a chance to order. guess it's my fault for having a 40 hour a week job though. my bad.

Here's some info from Mattel:

I'll nip this in the bud.

Yup, we fess up, and honestly apologize sincerely. He-Man's shoulders are backwards. In all honestly, we did not notice this ourselves until so late in the process that it was too late to change anything. We quickly corrected it so that all future figures are right. And any future He-Man figures will be corrected. (Yes, we will be re-releasing key characters from time to time to make sure new fans can get them, but we will change them up a bit, be it packaging, accessories or perhaps corrected shoulders...)

Luckily, (which explains in part why we didn't notice until so late) it is hard to tell. We could have stopped the press to fix it, but that would have meant delaying the figure even longer. So we felt it was better to get him to market with this minor flaw vs. tells fans they needed to wait longer.

Toy process is a monster. We hope fans will forgive this error as we move forward with even more exciting figures each and every month!

And that is the story.
