You guys are too doom and gloom. I hope the line lasts a long time yet. It's as fun collecting it now as it was when i was a kid. Sure we get some duds but we get plenty of awsome figures to make up for the duds. They just look too good lined up on the shelf. Really reminds me of being in Kindergarten when me and my friends played with these at school all the time. Back in the good ol' days before crummy jobs, non-stop bills, ********* friends, medical problems, housing maintanence, etc, etc.

I do agree,BUT I am getting little tired of buying characters I don't really want, just to get the characters (Vintage MOTU) I really want.I feel like I am wasting money on some of it.I felt the All in was for me,but now I am not so sure (Swiftwind with two right legs and those horrible Star Sisters are not helping)...

Toyguru has officially stated that the line is now dependant on Subs.Imagine if I drop out (my buddy is too) on the 2013 subs and others follow suit, that means the line ends sooner than later and by judging the 2012 subs sales (whether true or not),we are not gaining new customers it seems...

Swiftwinds backwards legs may prevent people buying a sub next year because its not like these figures are cheap, quality control keeps sucking, but prices keep going up.I enjoy collecting the line, but I am not sure how I can keep putting out money for POP and their Horses.

Yep, at the rate things are going, I might drop out by 2013 as well...
if there's an exclusive, I'd rather pay Ebay prices for one figure I want, than regular inflated shipping prices for 4-5 figures I don't want...

Well Ram Man better be leading off the 2013 Sub

enough of holding him hostage, its time Mattel steps up and starts doing some more fully tooled pieces

Star Sisters are newly tooled.... :wink1:

I feel I'll be out in 2013 as well, and just pick up the few I want either on the sale day or by other means, if at all. I really have no desire for figures like Horde Prime, SMAA, Star Sisters, etc.

In the meantime, new tool figures like Ram Man,Mantenna,Rattlor etc sit on the side lines while the 3 rainbow girl clowns, Jewelstar(looks like a man transvestite),Starla (ronald mcdonald's wife) and tall star (more Sideshow freak) get made into an undesirable 3 pack (how is that for hatin Eamon :) )

hey Mattel, that $60 slot could of been Battle Ram,but NO we get the 'fruit' sisters

and here's the latest custom heads i got from the .org. sorry for the bluriness of some of the pics. i can't hold a camera steady.

The price depends on what heads you get and painting. The heads that come with empty helmets are a little more. The heads range from 12-18 Euros. Shipping to the US was 8.50 Euros. So roughly $16-25 per head and about $12 shipping. He has a lot more heads than what i've bought. I think he has a 200x roboto head. a better Faceless one head. Filmation Hordak head. And lots of different enforcer heads from different species and genders. he also has some screaming he-man and faker heads. battle damaged faker heads. 200x Ceratus head.

he also made me this custom hammer for Tytus. though i don't think he makes these anymore.

That's not bad for a custom headsculpt. Custom 1/6 scale heads can easily run a whole lot more than that unpainted and WAY more than that painted.

I don't believe that. There's a lot of work that goes into even a fairly simple head sculpt and resin and mold making gets exponentially more expensive the bigger you go.

I value my time and the time of others. It's really hard to talk about this without using real-world numbers. I keep trying to explain it and end up having to use my own pricing for contracted design work or the prices I have been charged for custom sculpting neither of which I really want to publish.

Okay so, let's say a custom unpainted 1/6 scale head costs you $100. I think that's pretty high but better high than low. Let's say that person sells 20 copies of that head. So that's $2000. If they are working for $60/hr, which is very reasonable for any sort of skilled commercial art or design work, that ends up being only a bit more than 30 hours total. Including the time (and money for materials) they need to sculpt, cast, and ship all those heads as well as all the time they spend dealing with "clients" I'd guess the actual time spent is a lot more than 30 hours.

So I don't think what people charge is unreasonable. If we're talking painted then pricing gets even more reasonable because there's little economy of scale there. It's nearly just as hard to paint two heads as it is to paint 20.
