Also he has clawed feet on the figure and in the image he has boot feet. Ah well I guess the MOTUC is closer to the toy than the image.

that's one thing i don't like about this figure. the flesh colored gauntlets.

That was standard on MOTU figures. You could always paint some gloves on him. I think I did that on some of my MOTU figures when I was a kid.

I personally like the clawed feet, they make him look more alien. Plus, Filmation liked to cut corners to make the animation simpler and quicker to draw, so I'm sure they didn't want to have to draw clawed feet if they didn't have to.
