Dafuq did I just watch?! And why do I love it so?!

LOL, that was......FABULOUS!!!!!

Serious Noob question not related to that hilarious vid:

Some of the Classics figures have 'Battleground' variants. What was this 'Battleground' from? Comic? I am interested in more stories outside just the cartoons. If I had to guess, it's related to the original mini comics. How close am I?

That's a very old music video. I haven't seen that in years.

There’s a blu ray of the 2002 series???

Also had no idea they did a comic to close it off. Any links to buy it and how did it end?

Yes I believe there was a bluray. I have all the DVD's including the exclusives. The comic came with volume 3 DVD set but I cannot remember which one if it came with the exclusive or regular versions.

I'm planning on watching the whole series again soon so i can check.

For the Classics Line, there was an attempt to merge all versions of the characters into one cohesive story. I feel it had mixed results. Teela dyed her hair at one stage for a particular battle. I think it was to mirror he-man whom at that time was in space.
The "Ultimate Battleground" is a term the writers of this 'cohesive continuity' used to describe big events on Eternia. The Third Ultimate Battle Ground is the last with King He-man and He-Ro. I may not be 100% on that but that loosely it I think. Open to correction there if anybody knows better.

Oh, ok thanks. ALL of this was told in comic form?

Most of it was yes in the mini comics that came with a few of the figures. Like three or four issues. It was also told on the bios on the back of the figure cards.

Do they still have the rubber heads? I remember my brother used to enjoy chewing He-man.

I think it's only girls toys like dolls that have soft chewable heads now a days. Plenty of Monster High dolls for your brother to chew on. ;)

Oh, ok -thanks. And here I was reading the new bios thinking that info was lifted from something else, like a comic. And here that info was the new material......in part.

Thanks a lot for the clarification. I was confused.

They grabbed from everything, old original mini comics, UK comics, right up to the 2002 animated series to make it one solid story.

I personally was fine with the randomness of it all but I will say that as a result of that, we got an over all and complete story of MOTU. The story of He-Man has an full arc which i think is great to have. I like stories that have an ending. more of less.

I could waffle on for ages about this. :D

I purchased the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Minicomic Collection - backlogged, but looking forward to reading some of the comics

Hoping that the Netflix She-Ra does well, we get a new MOTU one too. I'd like them to be a tad edgier, but retaining some of the wholesomeness of the original. Fine line to walk.

Finally picked up some of the Ultimate figures. And boy, that He-man and SKeletor do not disappoint. Love multiple heads......Vintage packaging is awesome.

They are very simple and basic stories. It's all about the art in them really. The Alfredo Alcala and Bruce Timm ones in particular.

The new She-Ra toon looks to be a very different animal and more more kid orientated. So far anyways.

They are nice figures for sure. :)

Absolutely. For my money, only the first four Alcala 'mini-comics' (which aren't comics, more illustrated story books) are worth the time. I confine myself purely to those four as regards He-Man characters and mythology; everything else is irrelevant! Even as kids we all thought the He-Man cartoon was completely naff, which saves a LOT of money collecting the toys (Classics or otherwise)... :)

Its goving me a star vs the forces of evil, avatar the lst airbender/ netflix voltron vibe from what tiny bit we have seen. Too hard tovtell about the show from just that one inage just yet, but if those shows are anything to go on, it will be just fine, I think.

Have you ever read the three actual on the shelf mini series of comics from DC from 1982 drawn by Texeria and Alcala? If you or anyone else hasn't and if you love the early mini comics, you must get these. Easy to find and relatively cheap. :)

Well not to argue but Star vs the Forces of evil is very different animation to the more Anime style of Voltron or Avatar, which cost a few million per episode to make. star vs the forces is very cheap by comparison. I can only wish it will be to the level of Voltron/Avatar but I don't think it will be. I think it will be a cheaper affair. I really do hope I am wrong there. She-Ra to level of Korra would be boss. :)

I saw that the other day. Pretty funny. What country is that from?

Side note: I've been watching the Filmation cartoon again for the first time since a kid, and more than halfway done with season 1 on Netflix. Sadly, no season 2

Eternia is the name of the planet, right? I swear some episodes are vague about other countries, and it seems like when they say eternia, they are referring to it as a country, and not the whole planet. Saw the episode where its run by women and men mine a type of ore for the force shield, clearly referring to countries rather than King Randor, as king of the whole planet.
