The long-awaited live-action “Masters of the Universe” movie is one step closer to becoming a reality, with Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films dating the project for worldwide theatrical release on June 5, 2026.

Travis Knight (“Kubo and the Two Strings,” “Bumblebee”) is on board to direct the film adaptation of the popular franchise, with Chris Butler writing the screenplay, following initial drafts written by David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee. Mattel Films’ Robbie Brenner, Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch are producing.

According to its official synopsis, “Masters of the Universe” introduces a 10-year-old Prince Adam, who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword — the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”

Huh, yeah I don't remember that at all. I was a fan as a child - even of the Lundgren movie, which I guess older kids than me were annoyed by because it mainly took place in Earth - but He-Man was something I let go, and didn't continue buying the toys into adulthood.

Y'know what, I'd be interested in watching this though.

Yeah, I wish they’d just abandon the whole Earth stuff and stick solely with Eternia.

Curious to see how they adapt some of the costumes and characters. Nearly everyone is scantily clad and unless they all went through 300 like training, not everyone is probably going to be He-Man ripped.

The dude they got to play He-Man is on that chicken and rice diet ... saying his prayers and eating his vitamins, brother!!!

That's definitely a set photo. Lol! I didn’t notice the prop sword. I thought it was from another show or movie with the same actor. Adam does look like a trust fund douche bro especially with the long blonde hair and pink long sleeve shirt. Just needs a sweater wrapped around the neck.
