All movie maniac fanboys. Mabye not for one or two of you....

NECA still makes shoddy products with poor paint.

Mezco kicks both their asses easily.

Oh and for all those thinking "McF had its time"....well thanks to NECA and SOTA overstaturating the market with movie stuff yeah. Its not McF's fault they didnt want to add MORE niche market stuff to the already full pile. Gas is a factor, toys are getting more expensive to make...sometimes you have to do some stuff that will sell....like Guitar Hero, and crap.

I'd go with NECA. McFarlane's quality of toy isn't that much better than NECAs (if at all) to compensate for the fact that it doesn't make anything I'm even remotely interested in. Having said that, ironically I only have one NECA figure and I don't buy from either company anymore. NECA came on the scene too late and I'd moved onto 1/6th after which it seems pointless to go back. One thing against NECA - the one and only figure I have - the predalien - broke as soon as I took it out of the box. It didn't bode well.

NECA by far. McFarlane WAS king, but now they are basically just making plastic sports statues. NECA has all of the great licenses, sculpting, and improving on their painting and articulation. McFarlane has fallen behind and doesn't seem to care.

100% agreed. McFarlane is pretty crappy these days.

This is like the pee-wee leagues of the SS vs. Medicom or SS vs. Bowen wars. :lol

MCF was too cheap too get the licenses his fans were asking for years...NECA got them all where he failed....It all started with the Hellraiser licence..Neca never looked back and Todd went downhill...

NECA is one of my favorite companies now. The Cult Classics line is a horror fan's dream. Then there's the TMNT line that started this year. These are quite frankly the best figures I've purchased in quite some time. They have the perfect blend of sculpt and articulation. Theyve become one of the prizes of my collection. The Player Select line is also taking of amazingly. NECA has stepped up the articulation without sacrificing sculpt at all. McFarlane has waned to the point of not mattering. The only decent line they have any more is the Halo figures, which are severely hurt by being in scale with absolutely nothing else.

Neca, McFarlene used to be king, but now...Not so much. And I don't really care about the Movie Maniacs thing; anyone can see that their overall quality has decreased significantly.

NECA still makes shoddy products with poor paint.

And McFarlene doesn't? Besides, I haven't had a single Neca figure break on me when I looked at it funny, or even took it out of the package...

Gotta go with NECA as well, they've been (IMO) more aggressive with licenses, the articulation (while still basic) is better and I think for licensed properties they do better work.

However... McFarlane does some great in-house stuff.

You mean the same inhouse stuff that they had to kill because it didn't sell anymore? Though they're still continuing to churn out one boring Spawn line after another? I mean, just look at the Spawns coming in Spawn 34 and 35:

Remind you of something?

It's also funny how both of these new figures aren't even nearly as cool and well designed as Cyber Spawn 2 (one of the few little gems that McF brought out in the past few years, along with Mandarin Spawn), let alone the original Cyber Spawn or the first Manga Spawn, which is still a high quality figure!

I really hope that McF does a turn around soon. They always were a bit shoddy in the QC department, but I loved how original and well painted most figures were (hell, the three Interlink Six repaints I have are still some of the best figures in my collection), and I really would love it if they'd go back to doing stuff like that, or at least make their Spawn lines a bit more interesting (you know there's something wrong when they make a robot-only Spawn series and make them all look the same while they used to come out with the best robot figures).

I mean, if Mattel can do it in some way with their DC figures, then anyone can, right? Right? :(

i used to be a McFarlane supporter for many years, but have moved more to NECA. They have just been getting some great licenses, and have done a great job with their figures as of late. I think there was a period when NECA figures almost never looked like their prototype figs, but they have gotten much better now.

Having said that, i've moved more into the high end range of collectibles now, and Sideshow and Hot Toys are where it's at!

Funny, I was banned from the Spawn board for this exact topic. I posted a topic stating that "NECA has stolen the show".Hence the name X-Mcfreak. Mcfarlane toys died after series 22 Dark Ages, for me. So Joe over at the Spawn Board, keep up the sack nuzzling of 'ol Toddie.:horror

Neca is not perfect but at least they are trying. AVP-2 blows McF's attempts out of the water. Gears of war bit(h slaps those puny little Halo figures.
Highlander box set is by far the best figures Neca has made and are highly under appreciated.Assasin's Creed is a flawless figure too.

No, not so much the Spawn stuff... which is severely played out. But more like their recent Zodiac line and some of the oddball stuff they've done in the past. I think when they are able to have fun with a concept they can crank out some very impressive work... but over the years that's happened less and less.

So, like I said; NECA seems better overall, but I still think some of McF in-house stuff is cool.

Although, in all honesty I really don't buy any of either company as the scale isn't really my focus.

True, it looked like there were some good figs in the Zodiac and new fantasy line, even if they were predictable...:(

Gas is high, prices for plastics are going up, you have to cut costs. Sometimes there'll be shoddy products.

NECA isnt deprived of issues either, you got the KRATOS leg thing, the Predalien's arm, more paint issues then McF ever had...ect.

NECA is good, but everyone bashing McF doesnt understand why they're doing what they're doing. They're not a swag crap company like NECA is, which is how they pay for their licenses.

My advice, buy what you want. This "OMG MCF IS TEH WORSTZ EVEAR" or "NECA IS TEH SUX" just needs to stop. NECA is doing the movie stuff now, so, why does McF need to continue that stuff? All they need to do is continue to make enough money so that in a few years we can get the cool stuff we wanted.

Oh and for the record, MCF listens to the fans all the time. Remember Candyman? That sold well....right? Zodiac line did awesome....correct?

So....
