this guy once told me he liked how lucas had replaced ghost anakin in ROTJ with hayden christensen. he was in traction for 3 weeks afterwards. i took him some grapes. but he didn't deserve them.

You know it makes sense though, the fact that there never was an old man Anakin. The last time he was Anakin was as you saw him in Revenge of the Sith. This was in effect when he "died" so to speak. Thats why Ben remained as old in spirit form as with Yoda too. They were still "good" when they died so thats the form they have in spirit. Anakins reward in spirit form was a return to when he was whole in body.

Were we supposed to see somebody who he never grew up into? I know that it may take away from the classic Star Wars and such, but to me it made sense.

Sorry to take away from topic, back to Mckellen as Gandalf. I think we can take it as a given that he will be playing this part as Ian has stated many times that he would love to revive that role.

good point there. i have thought about it in that way before. but still, i don't like it when they screw with the original films. i want them as they were when i first saw them. it's insulting to the original actor as well - it just feels wrong that they'd just erase this part from his history. and hayden christensen stands there looking like he's just won the "biggest douche in the universe" competition rather than as a reborn jedi. if he'd done a better job in that final scene i would have minded less.

He looks like he is thinking "great, I am now stuck in limbo with the old guys, and my son is now older than me. Doesn't get any better than this" :D :D

i agree. and when they are done with that they should put an older ewan mcgregor in all of alec guiness' scenes in the SW OT. for continuity's sake.

This is a great point, Ewan studied Alec’s Obi to pick up the unique Obi/Alec mannerisms, but I think at one point he was more Obi than Alec. You would always have your special edition DVD's to remember Alec by, let's see the new Ultimate Blu Ray SW Edition have Ewan in all six chapters!

I'm for one am glad Mckellen is still Gandalf. But I'd have to disagree about Anakin,he fulfilled the prophecy as an old man and we did see him as Anakin when Luke removed his helmet on the Deathstar. One of the most moving scenes of the triligy IMO.I guess I'm just old school but I prefer it that way.

Well, Ewan certainly wielded his lightsaber with a hell of a lot more authority, but then so did everyone in the later episodes. Even so, I'm not at all in favor of deleting Alec Guiness from the Star Wars legacy in any way, shape or form. Might as well just remake the first three episodes then, and do away with all of those "older" characters! :google

Anyway, I hope nobody ever screws around like that with any of the LOTR films. Some things are better just as they are. A younger replacement for Bilbo probably won't be such a terrible thing, but anyone other than Ian McK as Gandalf just wouldn't feel right... imho, at least. :D

Since they are doing the White Coucel ( so I heard ) I hope Chris Lee can come back and play Saruman as well.

They tasted terrible anyway. So thanks for nothing. :monkey5
