Medicom has bad quality

i dont like medicom. their figures are fragile and overpriced and they're bloody stupid.

I wouldn't myself go as far as saying that they're bloody stupid and if I felt that way I wouldn't own anything Medicom. I too can relate about Medicom but the truth is they do make good figures but the only issue I have is their ridiculous prices.

The average price for a Medicom figure should be around $80-$90, right around where Sideshow sits. I mean look at the new Vader and Stormtrooper, $120 and $85? Those prices are great compared to Medicoms.

I know Medicom figures are despised by countless freaks but I really do love their figures.
The only one I had a problem with is Spidey. Yes his leg did break and that sucks. As for Hot Toys, many have had issues with their figures as well (missing parts in the box, broken joints, especially when assembling the Preds)

What I truly like about Medicom is that each figure is different and that they even make different bodies. Take a look at their Dragon Ball figures and you'll realize just how talented the sculptors hired by Medicom are.
Same thing goes for the MGS3 Snake and all their Comic-Anime figures. They're perfect.

I'm not to concerned about the quality of the Medicom figures, although it's true, they DO have issues... but, which brand hasn't? The thing that annoys me most about Medicom, and, it's very obviously that they are the leader in this discipline: their figures are shamelessly overpriced. Outside of Japan, that is. The way I see it, Medicom makes figures for the Japanese market, and over there the prices are more or less justified. So, the ones I'm really blaming here, are the resellers/distributors, with a big player like Sideshow up front, that don't manage to offer the Medicom figures at a reasonable price point, set according to THEIR market. Selling Japanese products on the US market for Japanese prices, that's just taking advantage of the collector. Daylight robbery.
I cancelled my Medicom orders with Sideshow, because the newer items have reached a new sad price record of $179. At that price, they can keep 'em for all I care. Medicom figures are nice, but certainly not "$179 nice".

You can still find them on ebay for a lot less.
That's relative. I'm in Europe, so if I order from the US or Asia, I have to pay high shipping costs, and what is more annoying, about 25% to 30% of TAX and handling (not sure about Asia, never tried ordering items above $100 from there). Most EU retailers have added the those costs to their product as well, so... I would need some luck to stumble across a reasonable auction. And, on top of that, not every vendor on Ebay is trustworthy, believe me, I know...

I must have at least ten Medicom figures and only the first one I ever bought broke, but it broke badly. It was a Cro-Magnon base body that I bought when first released and within a day the whole damn thing crumbled apart. the chest, hips, knees, and shoulder all broke at the about exact same time.

I haven't had any problems since (knocks on wood).
Medicom just has a tendency of using extremely poor plastic, it's their only major flaw. And for the price point, I expect a hell of a lot better quality.

never had a problem with any of my Medi's, and the quality has been pretty good for me.

only problem i have with them is how terribly over-priced they are.

Just wanted to say that not every Medicom product is overpriced. For example in my area (Hong Kong, Taiwan) you can find Goku and Chun Li for about US $130 which is around what you would pay for Hot Toys products. You guys in America have amazing prices for Marvel characters at $85.

However I agree that a lot of their stuff is overpriced.....Star Wars RAHs and the MGS4 figures come to mind....

I have only one Medicom RAH figure (Boba Fett) and I have to say that given everything I hear about the fragility of the bodies, I handle the figure very, very carefully. I'm not an extreme action poser kind of guy anyway so no worries and once I find a pose I like I tend to stick with it. I would be pretty upset if a figure that I paid Medi's prices for broke on me. As much as I do like my Boba figure, he does feel fragile, a bit overpriced and I don't mess with him all that much. But he does look cool.

Glad I'm not alone in this: Medicom is cool, but to expensive. Like I said, I cancelled most Medi stuff from SSC. I've finally taken the advice of a few friendly boardmembers, and let my wallet talk. No more Medicom from SSC, unless they adjust to price to what's in the box. Right now I don't feel that the contents is worth the price they are asking. Bye bye Han, Anakin, Speed Racer, Racer X, Clone Trooper ep. 2, Motoko Kusanagi...

yes the only thing that attracts me to their stuff is that they have more licenses and a larger range of characters like the RE4 Leon, he looks pretty sweet but now i am not getting gim

because you pay for what you get, they are not that special in my opinion and probably more crappy

If you mean the Resident Evil 4 leon, this 1/6 figure only has been manufactured by Hottoys not Medicom.Hottoys has much better quality than Medicom by far (or "Medicrap"as I say)
Leon is a great figure and Very, very recommended. The figure is very detailed, cool and of course..is not fragile.
A personal advice:If you find the RE4 Leon a good price dont miss the chance..you dont regreet it :D
In my oppinion Hottoys as become in to the BEST 1/6 figures company

In my oppinion Hottoys as become in to the BEST 1/6 figures company...
The company that can give me what I want at an acceptable price, no, at an justified price, is the best in my book. Medicom has some cool licences that no other company can give me at this point, but yes, in regards of price/quality/value, Hot Toys is king of the hill. But we must keep in mind that Hot Toys is also touching the $160's now for their 1/6 scale figures... must be the higher demand. We're victims of HT's success: because we buy their product, it get's more expensive every time! :sick

Oh, and before I forget: yes, I think that Sideshow had a very good price/value balance, about a year, a year and a half ago. They did well, and, even if they raised their prices recently rather drastically, they still offer ok value. Could be a lot better though.

When I started collecting 1/6 scale figures (RotJ Luke), their prices made it very easy to be a completist for various of their 1/6 lines. But today, it is rather hard to stay devoted to their lines. Every other figure costs more, and, the choice of characters leaves much to be desired, certainly for the SW line. But at least their quality is ok.

Yes I totally agree with you..They are rising the prices But you can not deny that Hottoys has improved and is continually improving their products in terms of quality.
With hotttoys You pay licenses and great quality/value stuff however nowadays with Medicom you pay for licenses and poor quality stuff.

Yes.In a short time Sideshow has been rising and is equalling the prices with Hottoys(and improving their quality too) but personally dont like their licenses too much.
In my opinion Hottoys will be a step forward.(at least this is how I see for now)

oops my bad i forgot leon was hot toys, what would be a decent price for him im only seeing him in the $140-150 range. I dont have any sideshow products, how are they compared to hot toys?
