It is 1:6. It's made by Jada Toys and retails for $109.99-$129.99:

For a hundred bucks, you'd think they would get the wheels right.

Good stuff. I just had a look at the companies website, and it still says coming soon. Anybody seen this in shops yet, and if so does it appear to be true 1\6, as in, would the medicom Speed Racer fit in it?

Well, even if it was 1/7 I bet the Medicom figure would fit in it. :lol

And EVILFACE, the wheels may be wrong but at least this thing is cheaper than the Medi figure... and R/C!

If the movie becomes a cult hit on dvd or something, these figures may be quite popular down the line.

it will.

i saw this movie the other day and really liked it.

for some reason the fan boys were turned off to the trailers, but will eventually discover it on DVD. (i guess it didn't have enough robots and explosions and flying robots who explode things in it?)

I liked this movie. Racer X (Matthew Fox) was the highlight for sure. I want this figure!

I think the same :) Racer X was the best thing of the movie IMO, I think I wouldn´t have liked it as much without M. Fox as him.

I had no idea there was gonna be a Racer X figure, I was wondering why there was a Speed one from Medicom but not a Racer X so I´m glad to know there could be a figure of him.
Of course I will get it! :chew Racer X rocks!

The MediCom figures for me are passes not because I don't want Speed Racer stuff (I'd prefer classic but whatever) but because SSC is already sticking it to me, along side HT so Medi gets thrown to the wayside.

I'm this "!" close to cancelling both Medicom figures. Just not the speed racer I remember from the Japanese cartoon, when I was a young boy. On top of that, the Wachowski bros movie may be nice to look at, but I hear nothing but bad things about the story line. Not that the fact it's a soso movie would stop me - I bought all three AvP-R monsters, and have the cleaner Wolf on pre order, but these at least have an outstanding design...
The figures look slick, but they are just not 'the' Speed Racer figures I would want. I think I'm going to cancel the movie versions of Speed Racer, and cross my fingers that someone will do the 'real' Speed Racer one day.

your best bet on that is probably still medicom. :lol not to mention they probably will do the best one out of the big 3.

Medicom does the best 1/6 anime styled figures, so if they ever get around to classic Speed Racer, it'd probably turn out well.

Regarding the Medi movie Speed Racer figures, I was surprised at the lack of photos of them at the Medicom Toy Exhibition (aka Tokyo Toy Show) last June. Were the SR figures even there? I need to see more shots before making a decision.

Yes, I agree, Medicom rocks on the Anime field, but let's not forget that HT did a few outstanding Anime characters as well: Appleseed. Maybe even some we don't know off - I've seen a few things on their site... And, as much as I like HT's craftsmanship, the one who delivers first gets my cash.
Right now, there is only one franchise I really like HT to do, because I just know they will pull it off right: Blade Runner. But yes, IF SSC should make BR figures, I'm buying.

Man, it's a long wait. When will someone finally be able to make 12" Blade Runner figures...

You ordered both of these without seeing the movie? I never really watched the cartoon (and found it rather laughable when I caught part of an episode the other day) but I enjoyed the movie.

Yes, I did. Do you really think it is a must to have seen a movie to enjoy the designs created for that movie? Sometimes I just enjoy the pure design of things. Sometimes the design is all that outlives a movie.
Yes, laughable the old Anime is; what do you think of GI Joe, or Masters of the Universe, Transformers, now that you are an adult? Laughable also? What did you enjoy as a kid? Pokemon? Don't you agree nostalgia plays a role in what we like? I'm holding out for an Anime version of Speed Racer, because that's the Speed Racer I knew as a boy, and I also prefer the design of it.

No need to be so defensive. I was just curious. (And I was trying to tell you to see the movie if you get a chance -- it's not as bad as some have made it out to be.)
