I think it's a great likeness. I won't be picking it up...but if they do a Christina Ricci figure...

Yeah there is.

not having the right rims really takes away form the car's look.

I have no interest in the film, but as a Speed Racer fan in general I may pick up this figure. It looks really well done!

How can a Speed Racer fan "in general" not have interest in the film?

I'm not a Speed Racer fan, but I think the film looks kick butt.

I'm hoping the trailers dont do this film justice because they're not making me want to see it (a little SSX Tricky looking) even though I'm going to.

i've noticed a lot of speed racer movie bashing. what did you guys want, the fast and the furious part 5 or days of thunder 2?

i think the trailers look great and i can't wait for the film. it's my number one flick i'm looking forward to this summer.

it looks to blend fantasy and reality in a great way. how goofy would racer X or the mach 5 look if they stayed true to the cartoon but tried to set the film in our reality?

i'm so glad michael bay or McG aren't involved with this film.

I love movies that try to do something new, Matrix, Sky Captain, Sin City, 300, etc. Thats why I want to see the movie even though I don't necessarily care about the franchise.

I thought for a long time that the movie would suck. But I am slowly changing my mind on that. It may not be the type of movie that is my favorite. But I think there are a lot of positives about it that will carry it through the cinematography style. I know it can't be easy to translate that style of cartoon into so different a live-action fantasy movie. But they have the acting talent to do it. It'll end up being how the director leads the crew.

To me, the likeness of the figure is very, very good. Not perfect, but I think I would rate it a good 89%.

I would get it if I could extend my collecting out to that line. But there are 4 or 5 other lines in front of that one that I can't even afford.

I think the trailer looks awful! In the bad sense that is... Not my kind of movie I'm afraid! Like I said earlier, to bad it's not the cartoon faced Speed Racer Medicom gives us. A real shame. Knowing how "economical" Medicom is, regarding accesoires for their figures, I highly doubt that we'll get a second (cartoonish) head with helmet. Again, a real shame.

That car seams to be a real bargain, even at $130. Wonder if a European retailer will offer it. I'm interested!

I wouldn't be shocked if they did a Cartoon Mailaway as much as MediCom is into their anime as of late but in reality it will probably be full white race suit Speed

hey, gang.

resurrecting the thread with a question for the experts.

i recently purchased a set of speed racer medicom figures on ebay. when they arrived, the speed figure's legs were broken. the seller was very, very cool, and tracked down a replacement body to send me.

it's not quite the right body. and though it works just fine, i would prefer to track down the correct one. the new body is a bit too broad in the shoulders. i did begin some basic surgery to maybe switch torsos, but it's not something i've done before, and things started to get pretty fragile. so i stopped.

if any of you can tell me specifically what body the original figures used, and where i might get one for a (hopefully) reasonable price, i'd greatly appreciate it.

thanks!
