I got a kick out of this section of the weekly newsletter from BBTS:

REAL ACTION HEROES - R2-D2, C-3P0
Medicom is finally releasing the Droids in their 1/6 scale Real Action
Heroes Star Wars line. C-3P0 will stand about 12" tall and includes
light-up LED features, and is priced at $1184.99 ($15 off the MSRP), while
R2-D2 will stand appropriately smaller at 6.75", includes light-up LED
effects and can be displayed with third leg up or down, and is listed at
17.99 (also $15 off the MSRP). Don't miss out on these figures, because
they're sure to be popular with Star Wars fans.

The way some people were acting, you'd think the first price was the real one. Too bad R2 isn't actually $17.99 though.

They still look awesome to me. The lights are actually quite a draw for me.

Proportion looks right in this new magazine shots, what do you guys think?

The 3PO is an easy pass for me, but if the R2 is noticeably larger than the Hasbro, I may pull the trigger, particularly if I find a decent deal. The new deco looks great.

Both are beautiful figures , i got my preorder, and i think that these will be one of the greatest collectibles of all times, we will see......

Totally agree NAM, the perspective is slightly different on each droid. So it looks to me that its a separate shoot.

A great fan of hyperbole?...

The R2 looks nice (to echo thenam-- not $200 nice :monkey1 ) but I'd only pick him up (and his counterpart) when they're at a seriously reduced price.

I think these two will be like dusty old Nintendo games where they'll be sitting on the shelf 10 years down the line and retailers will still want full price for them. :lol

By the time they're marked down to the $150 mark ($300 for the set), we'll all likely have Sideshow's on preorder which will be better, cheaper, and height-accurate (unless they want to insight a riot).
