Anyone else catch this? I was eager with anticipation - I've always loved the Arthur myths and Tony Head stars as Uther Pendragon.

But this was...not good. It's a little worse than the similar BBC import, Robin Hood, which is dumb downed and kidified. This is the same. The generic middle ages is infuriating, the concept muddled, the casting puzzling. There was one creepy scene, but it didn't make much sense. Gwen from Torchwood was also in it though - so there's that.

I'm guessing NBC is burning this off in the summer. I don't know if the BBC did more than one season - but I doubt it's coming back over here.

I never watch shows from start to finish... but I was at a friend's house for dinner lastnight and I didn't mind it. No Buffy/Angel, but it was watchable. Could I see myself watching this every week? Nope. I do like that Anthony Stewart Head is in it.

i would like to watch this but the previews looked so lame and cheesy i couldn't force myself to tune in. it's a shame cuz i think an ongoing series set in the middle ages would be kinda cool.

I didn't watch this Merlin show, but I like the new Robin Hood. The Sherriff is freaking HI-LAR-I-OUS.

This show was crap... I was initially annoyed that it started a few minutes late because of a Golf game, but damn watching the end of a golf match was thrilling compared to this :lol

Mostly the show just felt very, very low budget and like they didn't care. I only made it about 15 minutes in before turning it off. The deal breaker for me was when he met Arthur, who was a prick and the same age as Merlin?!? WTF!!!

I watched the first 2 episodes on HULU and didn't mind it so much. Maybe since it is getting decent reviews they will get more in the budget and boost it up a little.

Like the new iteration of Robin Hood, Merlin stinks... stay far far away.

For Merlin goodness one can't go past Nicol Williamson in Excalibur and as for Robin... the 20+ year old Robin of Sherwood should do the trick. The best of both classic myths in either film or TV :D

The Disney version from the Sword in the Stone is a fun one too!

excalibur is like a steven king novel. age 14 or 15 OMG best ever. anyone over the age of 23 should realize its pretty damn horrible.
