I dunno what the game is going to be as far as charactor go's but I do know i want to play as Snake again and raiden would be ok but not with out Solid....hell no merly or johny I would never play that game they suck!!!! Solidus or liquid would be cool you know the other snake's.... see what ^^^^ hole they were thrown in.......

Well, there's still no official word on MGS 5. The last I heard, Kojima and his team were on leave (vacationing after years of work on MGS 4). But, if they're back to work now, I guess that they're just getting started.

Solid Snake's saga is over. You won't play as him again imo.

Er.. No Raiden, and definitely NOT Vamp. If the main character in an MGS game isn't Snake, then the game will blow, the fans will hate it, and Kojima will receive more death threats. But, Kojima learned his lesson from MGS 2, and that's why Raiden wasn't playable in MGS 4.

Snake = Metal Gear Solid. If Snake gets ditched as a main character, then the entire series gets ditched with him. Personally, I'll refuse to play any Metal Gear Solid game, that doesn't have Snake.

I tend to agree with you. Metal Gear wouldn't be the same without Solid Snake. He was in Smash Brothers for Pete's sake, he's an icon.

i guess its kind of like having a splinter cell without sam fisher, and besides snake and big boss were very cool characters to play as.if they do come up with another metal gear, i hope its a character as cool as snake and not a whiney one like raiden in mgs2.

I agree, but Raiden redeemed himself in MGS 4. Raiden the Ninja was awesome, and I really wanted to play as him during part of the game

Well, I fine with expanding our knowledge of the MGS universe - in a game with either Solid Snake or Big Boss. Kojima's team has a lot of material to work with from: Big Boss' day in Fox, to when Solid Snake was just a rookie in Foxhound. That being said, MGS 4 explored Solid Snakes' end, so why not create a game to explore his beginning?

As for Raiden, he's good as a support character - that's it. Sure, he has a lot of fans, but there are even more fans who still won't forgive him for MGS 2 .

And as I said before, Metal Gear can't exist without Snake. Just as there can't be Rocky, or Rambo without Stallone.

lol...100% true. Raiden is ok as a background support character, but not as number 1. without Snake there is not Metal Gear, otherwise why bother calling it Metal Gear?? (other than to cash in on the name)

I can Still want to play as him It dosen't mean it will happen. I also said playing as one of the other snakes would be cool too still dosen't mean it will happen. You should read what Solidus posted and do some looking around it seems there is a good chance we will get to play as snake, and if thats the case more figures YAY!!!!! :chew

You are so right, metal gear is nothing with out SOLID SNAKE......They could make a new clone.....I know ^^^^y idea I just would like to see snake get a better ending than what he got with poopy pants getin the girl.....

Let us play as Old Snake in the first 1 or 2 missions training the young snake and then take old Snake out and let Young snake go after the ones who killed him and finish his story. That would keep all the fans happy and keep the story fresh. just my opinion though. I think it would make for a very good game. They could even have young snake encounter some old locations and find allies in Old Snakes friends and enemies since Old snake was nothing but respected by everyone he encountered whether they tried to help him or kill him.

isn't that what they tried to do with part 2?? i still need to get around to beating 3. i have played it 5 or 6 times now and can't beat the old sniper boss so i get frustrated and end up quitting.

You can beat the Sniper boss three ways. Shoot him in his Wheelchair. Fight him or set the Ps2 Calendar ahead a few days then reload the game and he will have died of old age.
